Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - StolenToast - 12-18-2013

I would play if someone set up a campaign

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - Chooly - 12-18-2013

Same here.. A while ago a friend set up an online Shadowrun campaign that was a lot of fun..
I'd be down for whatever, provided the books were easy to find

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - FlyingMongoose - 12-18-2013

I took a look at its premium features, and they actually are pretty good too. not just a couple of things, some major upgrades for it.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - Sogo - 12-19-2013

Count me in.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - FlyingMongoose - 12-19-2013

Do we have any experienced DM's?

Speaking of, you are welcome to come up with an original campaign, but if you do not wish to be bothered, after some mediocre research I found Sunless Citadel (Yes D&D), I figure the D&D universe is what most of us who would consider themselves beginners would be most familiar with. That being the case STARTING these campaigns with D&D would be best.

If we use Sunless Citadels, we should use D&D Manuals for 3.5. I know citadels is designed for 3.0, but 3.5 has some updated stat things.

Also if we like the way this campaign plays we can continue on in it, as it is the first part of a series.

Those of you who want to play please post what kind of class you're interested in.

We can move to others as other sessions arise.

Edit: I have found us a DM, he says he has 6 years DM experience. It's a friend of caff and mine we use to game with.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - FlyingMongoose - 12-20-2013

Okay here's the deal, post your class and race you want (must be basic).

You can do dual race, but have a good story (good stories can get you bonuses).

Psionics are not allowed.

Please read adventurers guide and dungeon survival guide, we don't want to deal with hand-holding so please be prepared before we start. If you do not it will become evident, if it causes too much slowdown in gameplay (making it not fun) then we won't want you to continue with us.

I also highly recommend downloading, and reading the "complete guide" to your chosen class.

All of the books that are recommended (and then some) are right here: http://www.tunedchaos.com/DnD.zip

You have a couple of weeks before the starter campaign is ready so you have plenty of time to get reading.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - The Generic Name - 12-22-2013

Book of Erotic Fantasy is best DnD book.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - Chooly - 12-27-2013

Had holiday business to take care of before I could devote the time to reading through the handbooks, but I'm going through them now.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - WaR1761 - 12-27-2013

Broken classes that I can remember
  • Shadow Gnome Illusionist.
  • Stonechild frenzied berzerker.

3.5 SRD: http://www.d20srd.org/index.htm
Pathfinder SRD: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

Also have pdfs of I think almost every 3.5 WOTC, some third party publishers, and pathfinder. DM'ed/Played 3.5 for 4 years then swapped over to Pathfinder and never looked back. Been DMing/playing Pathfinder for 5-6 years and love the rule changes. Currently don't have time to add another campaign Sad, but wish ya luck. Would be able to help out on pathfinder questions but can't remember 3.5 stuff as well.

Some of the adventure paths worth checking out:

3.5:
Red Hand of doom (DM'ed this)
Castle Whiterock (Player)

Pathfinder:

Kingmaker (Currently DM'in)
Rise of the Runelords (Currently a player)
Skull and Shackles

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - Whiskey - 01-07-2014

For those interested in the Game Goose wanted me to set up, im going to give you guys a vague picture so i can get races classes and backstories from those interested, i generally don't like dealing with non vanilla races but in this instance ill allow a few well im getting ahead of my self.
=Vague Picture of the world=
Laudia the realm held by humans, Ryvend the realm held by elves and the Medinar Alliance which consists of members from multiple races dwarves, gnomes even some humans and various other races a banded together Republic formed by smaller countries

Mostly Medieval  in scope with a few differences

Laudia= a Monarchy reminiscent of Britan
Ryvend=a dictatorship a mixture of Communist Russia under Stalin and Nazi Germany (they are also very very xenophobic)
Medinar= well the descriptions already there.

The possible non vanilla race will have to be of the republic and if its more than a +1 Adjustment i'll not allow it as a PC I'll also need a detailed backstory if you wish to do this.
That being said Backstories are not Required but they help me shape the world around your characters so they seem more Alive.

I like forward to hearing from you , Just PM or Email me the characters/backstories if you Email it make sure you Label it BRBU-D20 so i don't ignore it.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - FlyingMongoose - 07-28-2015

So hey, very old necropost here, but I now have people local to me, and some remote all wanting to play something based on the Fantasy AGE system (the system behind Dragon Age RPG though not necessarily the Dragon Age RPG). I have access to the basic rulebook for those who need it, and there's only 1 book for now. Toast has already expressed interest in being a GM for a short story or campaign.

For new RPG players this system is suppose to be much more user friendly than D&D and has significantly less reading material necessary compared to D&D and many others.

A magitech universe based Module is planned to be released at GenCon this year, this magitech universe is called Titansgrave: The Ashes of Valkana, it was created for an RPG show that Wil Wheaton has been running on the Geek & Sundry Network (YouTube and their web site), this same module will also be available from the Green Ronin (the publisher's) web site.

Green Ronin Fantasy AGE (if you want to purchase for yourself)

Those interested just let me know and I can provide you a method in which to get the PDF for the Fantasy AGE system.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - FlyingMongoose - 07-29-2015

So I've been asked and am answering here;
Question:
"Why not D&D?" or "Why Fantasy AGE/AGE System?"

Answer:
Honestly unless you're already significantly familiar with D&D and the D&D Universe then jumping into a new Pen & Paper RPG can be overwhelming to new players; the Fantasy AGE system is much much much more new user friendly, only needing 3d6 for just about any action but you still get to tell the narrative and enjoy your story.

It narrows down the classes as broadly defined versions of Mages, Warriors, and Rogues, each of these actually can have abilities which can be entirely selfish, or supportive across the board.

Races are also narrowed down into the simple classics of Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Halfling, Human, Orc, and yes you can be, well, a half-race (within reason, I mean, an Orc and a Gnome... for those parents SOMEONE has to be uncomfortable... so... yeah that one would probably be out).

This particular system is far more approachable on both sides of the coin too, while the GM is still the more story telling and complex role that a GM always has been, the same 3d6 systems still apply making it much easier to grab the reigns and take the story where you wish.

So ultimately the simplest TL;DR; reason for Fantasy AGE/AGE System over D&D, it's easier and quicker to pick up.
Also I'm not saying this all willy nilly, I've never been able to get a D&D campaign going because most the people I try to get going with this stuff usually don't have the time to read through much of the D&D stuff and it becomes overwhelming (myself included!), I mean after almost 30 years there's a lot to take in, this is so much less. Plus it helps in the gateway.

So whomever is interested is still welcome to contact me and I'll hook you up with the Basic Rulebook (One, 144 Page Book, Players only need to read chapters 1-6, GM's should read all the way to chapter 11) And yeah that's the only book in the system (right now) there are two planned modules, 1: TitansGrave Release Date: Today 2: (A New) Blue Rose (was kickstarted and succeeded) Release Date: TBD.

Re: - FlyingMongoose - 08-12-2015

Looks like we got participants. I'm excited for it.

Re: Tabletop RPGs Online - The Generic Name - 08-12-2015

D&D 5th Edition is actually rather easy pick up and play.  Wizards did good this time.

Re: - FlyingMongoose - 08-12-2015

We already have characters created and a campaign decided. So we're sticking with this for this session.

Doesn't mean someone can't run another game in parallel.

RE: Tabletop RPGs Online - FlyingMongoose - 11-19-2015

Necropost! I still wanna do this, but I've become comfortable in the Fantasy AGE system (which I can provide PDFs for).

RE: Tabletop RPGs Online - CaffeinePowered - 11-22-2015

I think some other people were interested in roll 20 and D&D rules maybe?

Did you want to GM or was anyone else interested?

RE: Tabletop RPGs Online - Xineoph - 11-23-2015

Depending on the schedule for play times, I'd be interested in playing as a character.

I have some experience with roll20 as a player.

RE: Tabletop RPGs Online - FlyingMongoose - 11-23-2015

I have no experience GMing anything but Fantasy AGE (which is pretty much the same as Dragon Age RPG). But I'll play anything. The problem is, if we want to interest people who have NEVER played Pen & Paper, a smaller, less complex system, would be ideal.
Which means anything in the D&D mantra is out, including 5th and pathfinder.
It leaves only a few options one of them being the AGE system, there's also a couple of others I heard of but I have to look them up.
