AppRemover Removes Stubborn Security Applications - sarcasticsteve - 05-02-2009 Windows only: Security applications frequently make themselves quite a bear to truly remove. That's great when their stubbornness protects you from malicious softwareânot so great when you just want them gone. AppRemover is a free application that specializes in stubborn, clingy security applications. Why would you want to remove security software? If you're replacing one security application with another or have a conflict between two security applications you have installed, it can be tricky to fully remove the offending application completely. AppRemover is a simple application with a basic wizard-driven menu system. It scans your system for security applications against an extensive listâyou can view it hereâand then you can remove all or selected security applications from your computer. AppRemover is freeware, Windows only. AppRemover [via gHacks] -Steve Re: AppRemover Removes Stubborn Security Applications - Blues - 05-02-2009 ITT: McAfee and Norton users. (aside it being free for my family) Re: AppRemover Removes Stubborn Security Applications - sarcasticsteve - 05-02-2009 I never had issues with it when I used to use it, I just find Avast stronger and better Re: AppRemover Removes Stubborn Security Applications - Blues - 05-03-2009 (05-02-2009, 11:10 PM)Karf the Walrus link Wrote:
People still use Norton? *gasp* <--Avast user
Isn't McAfee one of the better security applications? Also, on a more serious note for your sake, McAfee being on the "better side of antivirus" is about as much of a joke as the program itself. Re: AppRemover Removes Stubborn Security Applications - Geoff - 05-03-2009 NOD32 anyone? Crazy Slovaks serve me well. Good stuff, I'm just too lazy to keep updating and cracking, so I switched to Avast. Re: AppRemover Removes Stubborn Security Applications - [fr31ns]Karrde - 05-04-2009 Since we're on the subject of comparing AV apps while we're at it  How does AVG rate vs avast and nod32? Re: AppRemover Removes Stubborn Security Applications - bjlsurfer - 05-04-2009 Norton used to suck, but the new versions don't anymore- they took a chainsaw to the memory footprint. McAfee on the other hand... I am not a fan of. It works, but it's slow and keeps telling me I have to "OMG VERIFY YUR SUBSCRIPTION". Quote:Karrde link=topic=2799.msg80347#msg80347 date=1241453103] Different strokes. I'd say after using AVG and Avast that they're about equal. I've just come to prefer Avast's notifications (text bubbles) vs. the popup AVG gives. I used NOD32, and it's great too, but it takes a bit more to customize it "out of the box" and like said, cracking each new version gets a bit annoying, you're just as well off using AVG/Avast unless you want the extras you can get from NOD.
