Just watched Death Race. Despite the average reviews, I enjoyed it. Fast cars, one amazingly hot girl, etc.

I'll still watch this this though. It could be incredible. But between that trailer and the fact that Holmes won't use cocaine because Ritchie wants this to be appropriate for "families", I'm thinking it will suck.

I dunno, it just seems like such a major part of Holmes character, and the removal of it just so the film can get a PG-13 rating doesn't sit well with me. I hate PG-13ification in general. It's a bit like if Fox decided to have House stop using Vicodin so the show would be "family-appropriate". Except this is worse because Holmes is a much richer, more established character than House. It seems like an indication that Ritchie doesn't really give a shit about the original stories and just wants to do his own thing while still taking advantage of the place the Holmes character has in popular culture.
I would love to be proven wrong though, because I love Holmes and I love Downey. And I have to admit Ritchie is good at what he does, I just don't think he's right for this. But I really do want this to be good.

It's good if you are in the mood for it. It's not in your face humor and it's not fast paced. But if you are used to watching foreign and indie films you should love it (about the same pacing).
You can also catch the foreign version: "The man who knew too leetle"
