Personally, I'm still using the regular fireaxe, there's a definite trade-off involved.
I prefer being able to out-damage a heavy and still have almost-full health every time than be able to _possibly_ kill something really fast. The Blutsauger fits ridiculously well with the way I play combat medic Re: Heavy Updates... For example in the "arena" well the first team to either kill all of the opposing team or to capture the center point wins. The only way an engineer is going to be useful is if its like Loqutus playing, and even then in a competitive environment you aren't going to get that gun up likely. Sniper and Spy will be huge due to the one hit kill, and since most maps dont have med-packs that puts increased emphasis on medics and pyros. Some people will like it, but don't expect to see it on #1 much, maybe if duck likes it he might toss it on #2 sometimes. The other problem is this seems like a game mode that begs to be no-crit, but they will still delist servers for doing that.
Thanks, Caff. That's a nice thing to say. Re: Heavy Updates... I keep stuff on medium to low (no AA, bilinear filtering, etc etc) and I can hit a peak of 60fps if I'm very lucky on most maps. Re: Heavy Updates... The hit detection is off pretty badly, but now there are more facestabs. :/ As a matter of fact, it's getting much easier to manipulate a backstab with each update. I think Valve needs to consider fixing the hitboxes for the next update. Re: Heavy Updates...
How much have you tried messing around with stuff on your computer? That card should eat TF2 alive, I run max settings without a hitch in framerate on that thing... If your performance has been degrading over time, it makes it sound like your computer is more in need of maintenance instead of anything TF2 has been doing... I'd assume you've at least tried reinstalling it or something? Re: Heavy Updates... Next Week? - Scary Womanizing Pig Mask - 08-25-2008 Yeah I've had some weird lag jumps when playing. Not sure if thats from the update or my shoddy internet connection though Re: Heavy Updates... Next Week? - copulatingduck - 08-25-2008 Wedge: Idk, I have a fresh windows install and everything. I defragged the cache files and that seems to be helping a lot. As for CPU, I've got an AMD X2 4200+, I mean, it's not great, but it ain't terrible either. :'( Seriously though, fuck how finicky TF2 performance is. (I run 1440x900 which makes a bit of difference, but still...) Re: Heavy Updates... Next Week? - Vongore - 08-26-2008 this update performance is killing me I had to run the game on a lower directx something (as duck told me) and now it's even worse Re: Heavy Updates... Next Week? - Surf314 - 08-26-2008 I defragged recently too and I've been running very well. Re: Heavy Updates... Next Week? - Fail Medic - 08-26-2008 (scratches head) Not boasting or anything, but, I'm not noticing this performance drop across the patches. I'm only getting that three-month-itch thing that prompts me to reformat, but I was fighting that before TF2. |
