Goon consensus seems to be the mid-tier sniper is king. Rattlesnake lacks punch, Thanatos doesn't have enough rounds to make it as worthwhile (overall at least.) R93 can one-shot any non-Dozer, even a shield through the shield. Rattlesnake takes two shots if you get them in the head.
Also, place to farm kills and stuff. Rats 3 on Hard.

More goon advice
-Firestarter Day 3 (or any Bank Heist for that matter) is easy for getting zipline kills. Just look at an enemy and mash left-click, and odds are you'll get a kill, and one out of the ten is bound to be a headshot. You can even wait for some enemies to show up on the roof, and turn around and pop them as you head to the sniper perch.
-GO Bank, Election Day 2 Bank, and Rats Day 1 are great for killing snipers.
-Rats, Mallcrasher, and Election Day day 1 and 2 (warehouse) are great for double-kills. Rats 3 is good to line up the starting cops and the gangsters on the bus.
-The space between the building at the bottom of the hill and the fence spawns on Firestarter 1 is just over 40m for the long-distance achievement. Firestarter 1 and Watchdogs (both days) seem to spawn an inordinate amount of dozers, shields, and cloakers for the Thanatos cheevs.
e - PERSONAL ADVICE from this morning experimenting. Put a laser on your rifle for when you're doing the zipline kills. You can't scope, or even iron sight.
Silent Killer gives you more damage with a silent weapon. My Thanatos is at 3240 all kitted out.
