Re: The great gift pile - Didzo - 12-30-2011

Somebody gifted me The Void.

This is one strange, intimidating game...

Re: The great gift pile - Luca Shoal - 12-30-2011

Is it now, Silent One?

a pro-tip - get as many trees as you can filled with color. And don't waste it, or use to much of any one color. Especially the waste part, that'll hurt you in the end. There's also this *fantastic* LP of the game that may help.

Re: The great gift pile - Spore - 12-30-2011

I did the Super Meat Boy achievement two weeks ago and now it says I didn't do them. I don't think I was supposed to play the levels that far in advance.

Re: The great gift pile - Moosendoo - 12-30-2011

I'm not even going to try that super meat boy achievement.  I beat one of those levels thinking that was going to be the gift achievement. Sad

Re: The great gift pile - chronomaster - 12-30-2011

Welp, thanks to a coding failure (Open SQL Server) and absolutely refusing to acknowledge it, the SMB holiday achievement is unachievable. To quote just how much failure went into this moment, let me borrow from SomethingAwful.

Aren't these the same guys that tell you using the keyboard is for losers and then only bothered to beta test their game with the XBox controller, leaving other controllers to work like shit?

you are going to be pleasantly surprised with these titles if you choose to open them

Re: The great gift pile - backfire - 12-30-2011

Well moment that Super Meat Boy thing's available, I'm gunna go smash my head against a wall for an hour and a half. Same thing, right?

I'm not really that fond of RPGs, so they are up for trade. I know they are more expensive, but i'm looking for Portal 2 and Magic 2012. In case someone has them on gifts.

Re: The great gift pile - Spore - 12-30-2011

I did the Super Meat Boy one again. This time it actually only took 30 minutes. The first level caused me the most trouble surprisingly enough.

Re: The great gift pile - Squishy3 - 12-30-2011

So Chrono informed me that Super Meat Boy crashes because I don't have a 360 controller plugged in. The problem is, I do. So good fucking job, Team Meat for that and leaving the server for user-created levels unprotected even after being informed and just saying "Trust me, it's fine." After them blaming Microsoft for the lackluster sales of Super Meat Boy during Microsoft's Fall promotion for Xbox Live Arcade, even though Super Meat Boy received the most advertising from Microsoft and the other developers of games during the promotion received less promotion and significantly less sales than Super Meat Boy, and even being called out for it by Zen Studios, the devs of Pinball FX2 on Twitter.

If the Kid Christmas levels are difficult, then shoddy, non-deterministic controls are what make it hard.

I bet the whole set would be easier if I had a 360 controller plugged in. You'd think having a Sidewinder keyboard would be enough for Team Meat.

I shouldn't be able to jump straight up, away from spikes, and be hit by spikes.

Re: The great gift pile - Dr. Zaius - 12-30-2011

Game devs have their heads up their asses?

We haven't ever seen this before.

Indie devs usually don't. (Except for Notch and Team Meat)

Re: The great gift pile - Versus - 12-30-2011

lmao notch

just lmao

Re: The great gift pile - chronomaster - 12-30-2011

Here's a riddler for you:

The last part of the Kid Christmas pack, where you have to vertically ascend after dropping down that shaft (which is more of a pain than it should be thanks to the floaty controls). When I'm wall jumping toward the spikes, but holding away from them, why do I get hit by them some of the time? I could be holding jump and away both times, and get hit by the spikes maybe a quarter of the time.

Glad dumb luck factors into this whole mess.

I called Notch was going to disappear from the public eye after Minecon, and he basically did. He stepped down as lead designer for Mojang, and took a vacation after the whole Yogscast fiasco. Not to mention that absolutely horrible video of him "dancing" to deadma5's music. Notch dancing at XS

Re: The great gift pile - backfire - 12-30-2011

So I beat the first stage, get to bandage girl on the 2nd level and crash.

Start up again. I speed through the first stage first go, about 10 minutes on the second level, get to bandage girl on the 3rd and crash...

DO I HAVE TO KEEP DOING THIS?

[/quote]No.

Actually that makes a lot of sense. Seemed really odd that they'd have an achievement that crazy for an objective.
