I remember seeing their first videos on this (a year and a half ago I think?). Their technology has definitely improved, and well, those scanned in rocks do look great. But there is still the same worry I have from over a year ago. This is point data and that requires a lot of harddrive space/RAM. I'm talking in the multiple terabyte range for something of this kind of detail. I'm actually most interested in how they're getting around this problem. Anyway, they said they were releasing tools to some people soon enough, so when some real artists get a hold of this we should see some neat stuff.

I learned today that this one type of filter I've been working on at work lately goes in the GPS system in Apaches, among other aircraft of a similar role.
Sorta makes me wonder if something I built was in the choppers in the Bin Laden raid.

I can understand being skeptical (and I for one am) but you're using current theory to justify it when it could work on a different level that is just being discovered.
