I'm using the mono composite video outputs on the side of my Mattel NES (with some fancy use of RCA splitters to get 'stereo') directly to the TV. The TV does a "wonderful" job of up converting to 1080p. The edges look hella blurry on a blue background, but super clean (looks like flash) on a black background.
It doesn't do so well on the Dreamcast. In both situations it leaves bars on the side of the screen (colour varies depending on game) in every aspect mode.
