I saw this earlier today and had a hopeful conversation with my friend about it. We're hoping that if proven to be true, we can just mark "none of the above" for all our physics mcat questions. Re: Neat stuff (non-lulz but interesting things) - matter11 - 09-23-2011 I lament having to tell future generations that when I was young everyone thought that nothing could go faster than light and then there was an uproar about it. You know we used to have another planet called pluto too. Re: Neat stuff (non-lulz but interesting things) - A.
it's not light, it's energy, and it doesn't dictate, it is; the constant of proportionality is the speed of light squared. That how stars work, and atomic weapons. So, how these things are working around the speed of light is really freaking bizarre. So, Einstein is still right, it doesn't work in a 4 dimensional universe, it just seems the little buggers don't have any trouble swapping through a couple extra dimensions. Re: Neat stuff (non-lulz but interesting things) - ZargonX - 09-23-2011 (09-23-2011, 08:58 AM)LT Crow link Wrote:
I'm just hoping it shuts people up about FTL travel equaling time travel, as if light somehow dictates the existence of matter. Back in my day we had four dimensions and we liked it! Not like you kids these days with your 7th-dimensional phones and your Facedimensionbook.
there are 7 dimensions encompassing our universe and 10 encompassing infinities of infinity. The Dimensions Explained Re: Neat stuff (non-lulz but interesting things) - A. Crow - 09-23-2011 yeah, string theory requires 10 dimensions for the math to work, last time I check they still hadn't figured out a way to verify any of it through experiment. Also, this has made me happy.
