On the dour note: The quote-unquote palestinians have no legitimate claims to the lands they're going after. There has never been a country known as palestine. Also, you are both right, on different things.  Yes, Dtrain, they "freedom flotilla" was warned and brought it on themselves.  Yes, Surf, the Israelis fucked that bording up pretty epically.   

But yeah, they were armed.  Realistically, if you're hitting me with a club, I can shoot you.  BUT, I'm supposed to try to club you back first to get you to quit.  Sometime escalation of force along the "shout, show, shove, shoot" ladder has to skip a few rungs or you get your ass handed to you.    The Israelis even brought paintball guns as a non-lethal measure, which is more than I would have done.
