Re: The Movie Thread - Dtrain323i - 02-06-2013 Grabbed "End of Watch" on On Demand the other day. Good flick, it's shot in a pseudo-documentary style. A lot of it is Jake Gyllenhall holding the camera. Re: The Movie Thread - Didzo - 02-06-2013 I watched Brazil. It's... weird. Lots of things going on with this movie. I certainly enjoyed it. Because there are a couple of different endings, that change the context of the whole movie. I just looked up the European cut and don't think that the endings differ in any way that is significant to the context of the movie.
Honestly not sure what's different between the 142 minute (original) version and the 132 minute version (which was cut by Gilliam), but I know the 94 minute one (cut by someone else) lops a bunch off the end to make the movie more 'palatable'.
AKA the whole sequence where you realize that he's still in a chair being tortured, and the 'rescue' was in his head. And some other stuff. It's been a while since I've seen them within a week of each other.
Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 02-06-2013 (02-06-2013, 05:55 PM)at0m link Wrote:
Which version? It adds a few really great scenes into the mix. The "American" cut, as it is, was more of a compromise than anything. It still contains the gist of the story as well as a marginally altered ending. The bastardized cut Universal produced is known as the "Love Conquers All" cut. Also, it seems J.J. Abrams is in cahoots with Valve about a new game and possibly a Portal or Half-Life film. http://www.polygon.com/2013/2/6/3960102/half-life-portal-movies-jj-abrams-valve Re: The Movie Thread - Didzo - 02-08-2013 Watched Pan's Labyrinth. It's a rather grim take on fairytales. Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 02-08-2013 I was thinking, "I haven't been to a movie in awhile" and so I googled what was playing right now, and then I knew the answer. Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 02-10-2013 Adam and Dog One of the oscar-nominated short films. Be sure to watch in HD. Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 02-10-2013 House is the most amazingest film I have ever seen ever http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076162/ Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 02-10-2013 so.... slowly eating through my Amazon Instant Video credits... Snow White and the Huntsman. Forget about the characters, the actors, the plot, all that shit- I mean, because fuck Kristen Stewart, the visuals and environment design are what make this movie. The dark forest is extremely well done. It's such a shame that the environments had so much character in a movie that at face value, had none. Re: The Movie Thread - rumsfald - 02-11-2013 (02-10-2013, 08:32 PM)Karth link Wrote: House is the most amazingest film I have ever seen ever Is that ALL you have to say about this movie, Karth? HOUSE (1977) Trailer - The Criterion Collection To put it simple: The movie is fucking crazy.
Oh, Karth. Be not so hard a judge of your written output! I find the written version of your opinion of this movie has a flavor of crisp succinctness that your spoken word performance lacked. Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 02-12-2013 The Muppet Movie was perfect. 10/10 Every single joke worked, the screen play was brilliantly written! The characters and cameos were wonderful, the songs were lively and memorable! GODDAMN why have I never seen this before? Re: The Movie Thread - Azure_Angel - 02-12-2013 today is a good day. ;D Re: The Movie Thread - k0ala - 02-12-2013 (02-12-2013, 01:31 AM)Karth link Wrote: The Muppet Movie was perfect. Not a surprise that their first feature-length was also stellar. Movin' Right Along - HQ - The Muppet Movie Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 02-13-2013 ... god... i can't believe I'm going to follow the Muppets with this dribble. Henson, forgive me. So, Helix borrowed her friend's copy of Pitch Perfect. She told me this when I got home, so I went out and bought another bottle of Makers (they still have the high test stuff on the shelves), and I polished off the bottle I still had left during the first half of the movie, while she killed what was left of the handle of bacardi I've been stowing on the fridge for the past 2 months... and a bottle of skinny girl (I've turned her into an alcoholic, *high five*), anyways, we're both sloshed, and the movie was actually pretty entertaining. There. I said it. There is an asian chick with some completely inappropriate one liners that are fucking hilarious. And I think the lead chick is kinda dismorphic. It's good that girls with genetic abnormalities can star in ... productions of some sort. But hey, there was singing.  |
