Re: The Movie Thread - at0m - 02-14-2013 (02-13-2013, 11:07 PM)LT Crow link Wrote: And I think the lead chick is kinda dismorphic. It's good that girls with genetic abnormalities can star in ... productions of some sort.  ÂYou talking about Anna Kendrick? Other than being five foot nothing, and having been a supporting actress in the Twilight movies, I don't see anything wrong with her. Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 02-15-2013 Life of Pi was kind of ingenious with its narrative. I don't want to give to much away, but pretty much everyone has a different take on what precisely happened. Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 02-15-2013 The book made me want to find the author and bludgeon him to death with a coffee pot. whatever was handy. Does the movie also invoke these feelings? The feelings you describe are exactly what I feel when watching a Charlie Kaufman film, despite his popularity. Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 02-16-2013 Saw Beautiful Creatures (helix wanted to) As you can imagine, horrible, horrible dialogue and characters, it plays incredibly to infuriating stereotypes on the people you're not supposed to like, lack reality in the characters you are supposed to like.  But in the first hour or so there are some great one liners.  It gets slow in the middle- the teenage angst is palpable.  If they would have cut the ending about 2 minutes shorter, it could have been actually been pretty damn good- like by taking it in a completely unexpected direction, letting the main characters make the sacrifice, instead of a "having your cake and eating it too" ending. But they went with standard teenage trope at the last second.  Re: The Movie Thread - Chooly - 02-17-2013 Alan Moore is making films now (I guess he's tired of having his stories adapted) ;D http://youtu.be/gZ540_MGBZU Jimmy's End - Alan Moore & Mitch Jenkins Re: The Movie Thread - Mission Difficult - 02-17-2013 Saw John Dies at the End in the theater the other night. Enjoyed it a lot. I would highly recommend reading the book, but only after seeing the movie. Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 02-25-2013 Pretty nice Oscars this year. Varied, tons of talent, no overly-long sequences or stupid "talent" shows. The only thing I would disagree with is Brave winning Best Animated. Every other film on there was better than Brave. Re: The Movie Thread - Didzo - 02-25-2013 I watched Interview with a Vampire. I am told that this movie is somewhat popular or a cult classic or something. This movie is not a good movie. Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 02-25-2013 Travel back to 1994 and rewatch it. Re: The Movie Thread - FlyingMongoose - 02-25-2013 It is a well written dialogue, and a fantastic one at that. And a hell of a better story than this twilight bullshit. Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 03-01-2013 Troll Hunter It's pretty damn good. Re: Re: The Movie Thread - Mission Difficult - 03-01-2013 Sitting down to Sound City. I have a good feeling about this. I thought it was really good. If you really love music, are a musician, or an engineer I would recommend it. I think at its core it's about making music what it is.
