At 10 bucks a piece, we are practically getting a second game.  New weapons and armor is gonna be fun.

Good luck getting PC players to pay for that shit
[/quote]HL2 Ep1/2 anyone? I paid $20 each for those for not even as much gameplay as they're describing in the article.

[edit] and wow, i totally missed a page of replies arguing this very point [/edit]

Seriously though Caff, I think you're being too hard on the game (read:crazy purist Tongue). I personally like it, although I've never played Oblivion so I can't speak for the lack of originality in gameplay mechanics, but I personally think the shift to RPFPS wasn't an entirely bad one. Given that we couldn't get our paws on Van Buren, the Bethesda incarnation isn't improvement per se, its just different take on the same universe. And I kinda like it.

Allright I know you purists don't care too much but I just had a generally "awesome" moment for the mainquest.

I managed to complete a further section of the mainquest than what would happen had I progressed typically (i.e. my current quest had me searching for information about my dad, but I went exploring and managed to ping into his exact location anyways).

Being that my earlier section of the mainquest was still incomplete I went up to the guy who started me on this treck for more information, and sure enough the game recognized that I already completed a future chunk of the MQ, and I had several dialog options pertaining to this (i.e. "Yeah I fixed your problem but I already found out where my dad is, thanks anyways..."

Color me impressed.  I was SURE I accidentally broke the game by completing a chunk of the mainquest before I had gotten to that point.

And!  I got the keys to some weapon cache that I have no idea where it is located for doing the above. Cool!

This, from now on we should blow it up to 20 point font and add "and I smoke cock" at the end of it.

The weapons cache is near the southwest corner of the map.  I think it's north of Tenpenny Tower.  Three Dog should have marked it on your map.

Top complaint about the game so far. I understand they wanted to set parts off for load time, but at least in oblivion the city gates were believable. Arbitrary piles of rubble are not.

Getting to the national archives was stupidly infuriating, and non-intuitive.

I do agree there.

Although... then again I do think D.C. looks too "upkept" for something that withstood a direct blast of a bomb.  The rubble is the only thing I can cling onto for my suspension of disbelief that a nuke actually landed there seeing as half the buildings are mostly fully intact with only a chunk missing here or there.

If the massive amounts of rubble blocking the player's path forcing him/her to crawl through endless subway tunnels wasn't there I'd have a very hard time believing DC was nuked at all
