Re: The Movie Thread - spm201 - 12-29-2013 (12-28-2013, 01:03 PM)K2 link Wrote: (with a breakout performance by Amy Adams' cleavage) Oh yeah, can't believe I left out that part. I've never paid for porn, but this might be as close as I've ever gotten. At any given moment, Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence are showing just about as much skin as they are clothing. That. I enjoyed that part. Re: The Movie Thread - rumbot - 12-29-2013 Here's the factsheet about the real Philly Hustle: http://www.seventy.org/OurViews_Philly_Hustle_You_Cant_Make_This_St_Up.aspx Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 01-12-2014 Jack Reacher is on Nextflix. I'm going to preface the rest of this to say that during the moving I consumed more than half a fifth of rum. I asked my brother what he thought of the movie earlier tonight (as he was watching it as a new arrival to netflix too) and he said, "It's like A Few Good Men and Taken combined, but not quite as good as either." I'd say this is a fair assessment. But it's still pretty damn good. And I'm not saying this as a Tom Cruise fan, because I don't especially like Tom Cruise. He's like a midget, cult member, takes-everything-too-serious douche bag. I'm sure if you removed his fame and accomplishments and dropped him into any social circle, he'd be That Guy. All that aside, I really enjoyed this movie. And I hate to ruin it, but this was the best part: My Favorite Scene in Jack Reacher Re: The Movie Thread - FlyingMongoose - 01-12-2014 (01-12-2014, 12:04 AM)CPT Crow link Wrote: Jack Reacher is on Nextflix. It qualifies as a "I'll watch it on netflix because I have nothing better to do" (I just watched it as well). I don't particularly like Tom Cruise as an actor despite his real world... well... insanity, because as an actor (if you can call it that) he never has variation in his character. He's always this overly intense guy, no real range to what he can do compared to numerous other actors. Re: - at0m - 01-12-2014 They got a 5'4" guy to play a character who's supposed to be 6'5? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk Re: The Movie Thread - spm201 - 01-18-2014 Wolf of Wall Street was pretty good. Not everything I hoped it would be but still worth a watch. Re: The Movie Thread - Mission Difficult - 01-19-2014 Under 6: Big Trouble in Little China Re: The Movie Thread - Kor - 01-19-2014 Went to see The Desolation of Smaug last night with my brother. Don't know what all the whining was about, it was very enjoyable and made great use of the source material. I had a lot of people tell me that the
addition of the Tauriel/Kili romance
was over-wrought. In its defense, in terms of filler, it was still faithful to how the story was told and didn't take away anything from the story. The only minor grip I had about the whole thing, was there was a few spots of CGI overkill. Understanding why they tried it, but it felt that after all the attention to detail(48fps, legions of set builders/costumers/make-up) why mar it with a blob of bad CGI. Re: The Movie Thread - Didzo - 02-02-2014 Watched the Wolf of Wall Street. It's about excess and the movie is excessive. Great performances throughout. The best part of the movie was listening to the audience and hearing laughter turn to uncomfortable laughter turn to silence, time and time again through the entire 3 hour run time. Delicious.
I thought it ran a bit long honestly. I had fun laughing at Leonardo doing ALL the drugs, but there were a few places that just dragged until the story ran by. It reminds me of Goodfellas if it wasn't an absolute masterpiece. Re: The Movie Thread - kaese - 02-08-2014 Saw Blue is the Warmest Color the other night. It was a good movie overall, very depressing actually. The sex scenes were too long imo and didn't add anything to the story after about a minute (kind of felt like I was watching a porn). Re: The Movie Thread - A. Crow - 02-08-2014 well, it's got my interest, now. Re: The Movie Thread - Evil Cheese - 02-08-2014 I saw the Lego Movie today and really enjoyed it. It had a good mix of jokes that could entertain both adults and kids. Without spoiling too much, I thought the way they went about the movie was clever and did a good job of capturing what it's like to play with Legos. I also saw Nebraska a little while ago and enjoyed it as well. If anybody has family from a small country town, I think it does a good job of capturing what life can be like without being offensive or disrespectful. It was a bittersweet sort of movie in the best way. Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 02-08-2014 (02-08-2014, 09:33 PM)Evil Cheese link Wrote: I saw the Lego Movie today and really enjoyed it. The Lego Movie had the same hyperactive charm that 21 Jump Street and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs contained, but I've got to say the story really surprised me. It got a lot more personal than I thought it would and it made a really good analogy for how imaginative playing with Legos or any toy is when your a kid. The animation was fucking great and the jokes were unbelievably creative. Nebraska struck a chord with me and it's hard to say why. The wonder of rediscovering your past is a fascinating concept and the way it's approached in Nebraska is really damn good. Forte, Dern, and all the supporting players do a phenomenal job aiding the relatively simple simple script and ascending it into something amazing. It's easily my favorite movie of the year. Re: The Movie Thread - Elder - 02-11-2014 The lego movie was pretty good it reminded me of toy story 3, as a throwback to days gone by in my childhood and the rediscovery of something fun. There is a twist but you could probably guess it within the first 30 minutes. It also makes you want to go and buy more legos because you can never have enough Also Will Arnett as batman and Charlie day as 80's space guy (basically he's space personality core) but he doesnt get enough dialogue to make it annoying.
