There is a total difference between liking comics, and liking comic CONVENTIONS. It's like anime, watching it doesn't make you a gigantic wanking weeaboo, but going to a con sure as hell does. Only acceptable cons are gaming cons. Gaming cons are for gaming and being drunk. It's like my house every weekend only with 200x as many people.

I kinda agree with blues.  OH MY GOD I KIND OF AGREE WITH BLUES.  Anyways I hear these things smell funny. As someone who is pretty keen on hygiene I would be extremely uncomfortable if the stories I hear are true.

They are... oh sweet jesus those stories are true.

I've been on a few Anime cons, either cosplaying or with my gf doing so, i don't enjoy them a lot besides.. well, doing something, not just bumping into booths and buying everything that looks "OMG KAWAII DESU NEEEEEEEEE". Well, on these cons there are usually video presentations on closed rooms, and sometimes, they put some Japanese homo looking guy shouting on the mic on a karaoke like video (miyavi i think was his name) and everyone else started singing and the mixed smell of their poor dental higiene, plus their sweat and... i puked right there :3

I dunno...I kind of liked going to the Winnipeg Comicon...but that's probably pretty lame compared to the big ones. Everyone is really nice and you get to meet a lot of local and not local talent. Like I met Angus Oblong (of The Oblongs http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0219446/) and he drew Bob Oblong on one of his books and everything! He was such a sweetheart even though he wore a scary clown costume. I don't like clowns, but I like him.

That's true, that part was fun. Also the prices on some books and such were really good. Also it was fun to laugh at the retards in costumes, though I think there was a good costume in there somewhere. Maybe. Mostly attention whores though.

Re: Comic-Con - k0ala - 07-24-2009

Hygiene. 99.5% of people at a con practice it. The other .5% are smelly loud horrible people who have NO IDEA they are ruining it for everyone.

I'm a huge nerd and have been for a while. I'm comfortable with that. I helped out with the Burn Notice panel last night and just got back from The Guild panel this morning. Yes. Felicia Day IS that hot in real life.

Burn Notice turned out to be much more fun than i thought it would be.

I saw one of the almost-waldos as I was crossing the street from the convention center. Seriously. He had the cap and the sweater but no glasses and no chin.

I got a Del Rey Manga Sampler 2009, with 5 pages of the "Ace Attorney" manga they're publishing... I could drop it in the mail if ya want.

Re: Comic-Con - Squishy3 - 08-14-2009

My friend's mom interviewed Bruce Campbell over the phone because she works for a website that does TV show reviews and she was picked to handle that so she asked if him or any of his friends had any questions for Bruce Campbell. Big Grin

She and him are also going to Comic-Con next year. I want to go too. I may try and do that.

I would have sent you the bandana, but I already gave it to Dexter Sad (I'm keeping the tin.)

Also, for those of you who haven't been to SD Comic Con, it's not really comparable to any of the weird weeaboo hentai cons you probably are used to going to. The crowd tends to skew more towards people who like Heroes and Lost and Joss Whedon and shit like Twilight than neckbeards clutching their Hatsune Miku body pillows. It's more of a con where you see a family of four walking around, and then Adam West walks by you and says hello because he notices you staring, and then later you get yelled at by a security guard because you're standing in Zachary Quinto's "walking zone".
