[/quote]Unfortunately that sort of exhaustive testing would eat into their profit margin. It's most likely just drawn from manufacturer spec'd requirements for power draw per component. Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - copulatingduck - 08-10-2009 Honestly, I think it's close enough to serve it's purpose. You should always have some kind of factor-of-safety when picking a PSU anyways because a bad PSU wreaks havoc (and 1 is not an acceptable FOS ) Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - zaneyard - 09-03-2009 Bump because I don't want to keep starting new topics For those that use LCD monitors First of all, I want something at 1080p second of all, do you guys ever notice a difference between the 2ms response times and the 5ms response times? just something I was wondering about and if it's not that big of a deal, I can save some money going with a slower response time. also, what do you guys use for resolutions? Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - copulatingduck - 09-04-2009 I think the third line answered your last question i use 1440x900 tho Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - Versus - 09-04-2009 (08-10-2009, 05:54 PM)CopulatingDuck link Wrote: Power Supply Calculator bumped up my potential PSU because of that Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - cbre88x - 09-04-2009 1080p monitors are a hell of a lot cheaper than TV's. which is why I plan on buying an Acer 24" with an HDMI port on it. look it up on newegg. 250ish dollars maybe less I think. Also, I use 1440x900 on this monitor. It sucks because it's a 16:10 ratio and some games barely support it/have some in game bugs and issues because of the aspect ratio. Just go with something that is straight up 16:9. Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - zaneyard - 09-04-2009 i'm looking at a 1920 x 1200 also versus the graphics card uses up 680 Watts of the 750 watt power supply you had listed Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - Versus - 09-04-2009 uh no it doesn't it just recommends a minimum 680W PSU for a computer using that videocard and the PSU I have in that list now is a 910W one Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - zaneyard - 09-04-2009 (09-04-2009, 01:18 AM)Versus-pwny- link Wrote: and the PSU I have in that list now is a 910W onei know Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - Versus - 09-04-2009 durp Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - HeK - 09-04-2009 (09-04-2009, 01:08 AM)cbre88x link Wrote: Also, I use 1440x900 on this monitor. I had the understanding that most wide PC monitors were 8:5 ratio. Whilst wide screen TVs are 16:9. 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 are also 8:5. Re: Conceptual Build-A-Rig Thread - zaneyard - 09-04-2009 i have no idea what anything is anymore all i have a solid understanding of is the standard resolutions for 4:3 |
