Also contests are not random at all, and are quite fun. They require at the very least as much strategy as battles, because you're vying with 3 other enemies instead of 1.

Can't help you there, as Emerald doesn't have wi-fi trading
Blastoise really isn't that great of a Pokemon though. He can't really do much apart from Rapid Spin, and Fortress and Donphan do that and far far more.

i'd have to agree with Beep here. Super Star Ultra is fun for a bit, but it gets boring after you've beat each game.
