Re: D&D online, now 100% more free - Darina Smirayne - 09-13-2009 Anyone willing to write a review of it? I'm not sure I wanna get into D&D again, especially as an MMO... I gained like 600ibs playing the P&P version - you just can't play without cheesy snacks and copious amounts of fizzy beverage! [/quote]] On a scale from 1 to fun, how fun? Re: D&D online, now 100% more free - Fail Medic - 09-13-2009 I'm installing it now (AICH DEEEE version). I trust AnyKey's judgement. edit: which means if I don't have fun IMMA CALLIN YOU OUT Re: D&D online, now 100% more free - Eschatos - 09-13-2009 Installing also. I'm thinking I'll go Paladin if it's not a class you have to pay for. Also, is this based on 3rd or 4th edition rules? Re: D&D online, now 100% more free - rumsfald - 09-13-2009 Here's a short review: a dungeon crawling game with wow-ripoff graphics and diablo-like mechanics (click click kill). If you want a longer review look over here. Very much a loot and level grind, with cheesy voiceovers and the occasional fun trap. Above level 2 a group and voicechat becomes necessary to have any real fun. The first time you complete a quest on a elite you get 100% favor points for one of the various factions. Hard is like 75%, and normal is 50%. So, if you complete a quest on normal you can re-run on hard to get another 25%. For every 100 favor points, you get 25 DDO store points to buy stuff. 200 favor points unlocks an extra backpack. 400 favor points unlocks Drow Race. 1750 allows future characters to be made with 32-points in starting stats (instead of the normal 28). DDO points can be used to unlock classes/races (monk, warforged), buy equipment, or unlock different quest adventure packs. You can drop real $ into the DDO store for DDO points if you want (but it might be cheaper just to do a month subscription, depending on what you want). Very important, free characters are capped at level 4. You need to either find a Levelling Sigil (random loot) or buy one from the DDO store to raise the cap to level 8. Same for 12, 16, and 20. About 1/3 of my fellow ddo-ers from the recent beta have not got the random drop in time to avoid hitting the level cap. Re: D&D online, now 100% more free - Luinbariel - 09-13-2009 Suddenly this sounds really lame and I am no longer vaguely interested.
