Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - Wedge - 10-27-2009

Yeah the FOV edit is in the steam thread.  However I actually had my FOV reset whenever I sprinted or a number of other things, so I added a dual bind to my dash and jump keys that sets my FOV everytime I press them.  Stupid, but it works.

Also would like to play tonight, but there is no way in hell I can host.  Router is a POS, and I'm lucky if it just lets all my machines connect to the internets.

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - Squishy3 - 10-27-2009

I'll play tonight, and try hosting to see how that works out.

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - Wedge - 10-27-2009

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOU CONSOLE PORT.

Cannot change FOV at all, co-binding it to a key just makes it so I can't reset my FOV AT ALL after Sprinting now.  FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK I can't fucking stand this shitty console FOV shitfuckfufckfufkuackfuckuckfucfkcufkufkc

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - KorJax - 10-27-2009

uh

It's not that bad really

Now what does annoy me is the fact that the entire GUI is shittily console-specific and handles like ass with a mouse (no mouse scrolling? really?), the vehicle controls are halo-esk which works well with a controller but TERRIBLE with a mouse, etc.

Luckily for this game the actual gameplay, performance, and visual style of the port is great.

Also sorry surf but the guy's friend wanted the game and sent the money my way so I gave the last gift to him Sad

EDIT: Any way to run this baby in window mode?

Disable Intro Movies

Open:
Code:
\Steam\steamapps\common\borderlands\WillowGame\Movies

Delete:
Code:
2K_logo.bik, Gearbox_logo.bik and NVidia.bik

This will make it so you don't have to sit through the intro movies.

Adjusting the FOV

Open:
Code:
Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config\WillowInput.ini

IMPORTANT Find this section in the code:
Code:
[WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput]

BELOW IT! IN THE SECTION WITH ALL THE OTHER BINDINGS. Put in.
Code:
Bindings=(Name="F11",Command="FOV 95",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

You have to bind it to a key since every time you die (or possibly load a new area) your FOV resets. On this the key will be F11. I find that 95 looks good on 16:9 (22 inch) 90 is usually the standard while 100 should look good on 16:10 (23 inch)

Toggle Aim

Open:
Code:
Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config\WillowInput.ini

Find Under The "[Engine.PlayerInput]" Section:
Quote:Bindings=(Name="RightMouseButton",Command="advancedbutton bAdvancedButtonAux5")

Replace With:
Code:
Bindings=(Name="RightMouseButton",Command="ToggleAimOn")
Bindings=(Name="ToggleAimOn",Command="StartAltFire | setbind RightMouseButton ToggleAimOff")
Bindings=(Name="ToggleAimOff",Command="StopAltFire | setbind RightMouseButton ToggleAimOn")

To edit .ini just open it with notepad. To search for lines of code hit 'Ctrl + F'

REMEMBER ALWAYS MAKE BACKUPS OF THE FILES YOU ARE EDITING/DELETING

Go into steam games and then right click Borderlands and hit Properties. From there click Set Launch Options... and type in
Code:
-windowed
Hit Ok and it should launch in windowed mode.

Squishy3 is my GamespyID

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - Wedge - 10-27-2009

Ugh, Gearbox needs to lrn2rpg.  The game is unplayable with someone 2-3 levels out of your range, so co-op is pointless unless you're organized and only playing together.  I'm probably just gonna play on LAN with my boyfriend until when (and if) they ever balance that properly.

sweet, the ventrilo server just keeps on timing out for me.

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - Bonesinger - 10-27-2009

Figured out how to manipulate gravity. Looks like there's an option for increasing the number of max players. Tomorrow I would like to see if we could get 6 or so people playing on one server.  ;D

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - copulatingduck - 10-27-2009

wowowow, that is pretty unplayable right out of the box. hopefully screwing around with my config can make it better, but the whole "you can only choose from 5 sensitivities, which in all likelihood won't work for you" is pretty frustrating

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - KarthXLR - 10-27-2009

Configuration is alright, but the game is pretty fun so far. Works the same as Fallout 3 for me, in terms that I get a good, not great, FPS on it and a better processor would probably fix everything....:'(

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - Eschatos - 10-27-2009

Longbow grenades own.  Also I got a non-guaranteed drop level 12 repeater pistol, it's pretty good even at level 20.  If anyone wants it let me know.

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - KarthXLR - 10-27-2009

Incindinary UZI-style pistol with a knife on the front.

awesome.

The sensitivity isn't that bad, the problem is they have mouse smoothing enabled by default, which fucks up everything.  And you need need to go into the config files to turn that off.

Re: BRB, Borderlands - Game Discussion & Guide - KarthXLR - 10-28-2009

I'm having problems setting up with vista.  The game config apparantly has 7 or 8 scripts to follow.
