okay boys check it out and criticize, i dont think he cares about price range too much anymore he just wants it to be a low price and future-proof for some time

Re: Look at Chief's Friend's Computer and Criticize - Spore - 07-15-2010

I'm still recommending the 1GB GTX 460's in SLI if the budget can go that high. Mostly just to piss on the outdated SLI/Crossfire does nothing information.

Okay, so price range is between $500 and $3000.

Gotcha.[/quote]thats what i thought when i saw most of his build
as of right now without the case, dvd/blu-ray drive, and video card, it would be somewhere between 950-1000 (including shipping). so if he wants a good graphics card, there's no doubt the price range has at least risen to between 1600-1800 canadian

Re: Look at Chief's Friend's Computer and Criticize - KarthXLR - 07-15-2010

Just wondering, I thought you were seriously considering buying off ebay.

besides if you cared looking at it its a store having a open box bid based in canada

so not really someone selling something, its a store who got something back and is selling it online through ebay through bidding

I'm telling you, it's worth it to at least look at a benchmark for the GTX 460's if he really is going to go for a 400+ dollar card. I mean, really. Just a look.

Re: Look at Chief's Friend's Computer and Criticize - beep beep diglett - 07-16-2010

cooler master makes good cases

also i dont think dvd drive matters that much (watch as hek comes in and tells me just how wrong i really am :p)

Re: Look at Chief's Friend's Computer and Criticize - Didzo - 07-16-2010

As far as the dvd drives go, I think that any of them are pretty good and are in the $20-25 range.

As far as cases go:

What size does he like?
-Full tower: for the manliest of men
-Mid tower: more portable, smaller, less manly

What looks does he want?
-Does he want it clean and simple, tough and rugged, sleek and shiny, over the top, etc.

Price range?
-Cases run from $50 to $1000+

anyone who buys a case for more than 200 dollars is an idiot or really fucking rich

Well yeah, but this isn't my money I'm spending.

There's a market for really expensive cases, and I don't know whether he's part of that market or not.

I recommended a goddamn case on page 1.

But I'll slap together a list of cases anyway, asshole.

-------------------

Cooler Master High Air Flow cases. Rugged, military look, steel construction, tool-less design, huge (inside and out), awesome cooling, red LED fan up front.
-HAF 932 - My case (full tower).
-HAF 922 - Same series, smaller size (mid tower).
-HAF 932 X -Updated version of my case (full tower).

Antec cases. Well built, well ventilated, look sharp.
-Antec 1200 - Lots and lots of blue fans in a sharp package (full tower).
-Antec 900 - Same look as the 1200, but smaller with a lower price tag (mid tower).
-Antec 300 - Clean and simple, with no flashy lights or windows. Comes in a second version with an extra fan and blue LEDs for $10 more.

Other notable cases I came across.
-Any Cooler Master Centurion - These are mid tower cases. Solid quality, no frills design, relatively cheap (~$50).
-XClio Windtunnel - Great cooling, clean look, blue lights, cheaper than the other full tower cases I posted.

I'm a fan of the 300, I can personally vouch for its awesomeness since I have one. I replaced my Sonata (another excellent looking case) with it because the Sonata (a silent case design) was making my video cards melt. Derp.
