Re: arena_starship - backfire - 08-20-2008

I just saw a couple bugs, like the elevators only work for that spawn's team, same with the upper door right outta spawn. Not sure if you intended this though. All in all, it fit arena pretty nicely.

Re: arena_starship - Ianki - 08-20-2008

keep in mind i haven't played the map, but reading the description of FPS banana i wonder why you removed ALL the health.  Removing the medium health packs in the little cubbys is probably a good idea, but i think it would be cool to have maybe just a couple small packs in the rafters.  When there is no health people on fire just give up and die, when health is at a premium and in known locations blood baths ensue.

and thus: the essense of arena was looked upon, arena is half staying alive, try not to be on fire
(tho a crit flare is a kill to a scout, DAMN YOU CAFF!)

What kind of Scout gets hit by a flaregun?

I do agree a small health or something would be nice though.

Scouts that came across me when I had my flaregun. Most of my flaregun hits have been scouts, which makes the fact that I can't hit the broadside of a part with a demoman all the stranger...

Personally I'd like to see a small health pack somewhere on the main floor. Not on the rafters, as that's really only useful to snipers who have a sweet enough deal as is. Something higher up or out in the open though, that puts the person at risk if they go get it like in lumberyard (although watching heavies each sandviches with all their might was pretty funny).

As for the sniper discussion we had last night... Some piece of cover that obscures the sniper's view of the upper level would be good. As is he has a clear shot at two of the other team's three entrances from the safety of his vent. Not sure what the best solution is, as walking on top of the obstacles now is cool. Maybe make additional entrances out of the side doors in the main room (the ones that would lead to the bridge or engine room in cp_starship).

i used to bother the heavys a lot with the flare gun but now they just sneak off and eat their sandvich

Re: arena_starship - CaffeinePowered - 08-22-2008

Anymore feedback on this?

What I'm really hoping for too is more places to promote the map as well. Ive seen it on 3 non-brbu servers and Id really hope to get that number up to the point where I see it on at least one server all the time, sort of like how theres always a game of labor going on somewhere...

Re: arena_starship - Fail Medic - 08-22-2008

Had fun on arena_starship.  Dashing to the tall shelves of drums on the opposite side and doing an end-run around the people coming down after mucking about on the catwalks is neat.  Then you go into their spawn's anteroom for some ungodly reason just to see if they put a sentry up in there.  Would it be better if the door downstairs was permanently open and wider?  Or is it supposed to be a medic / dispenser hiding alcove?  And I've no suggestions on extending promotion.  I'm clueless.

ZOMG CAPTURE POINT SHOULD BE IN TRASH COMPACTOR!!! THE SUSPENSE WOULD BE EPIC!!!!

I LOVE TEQUILA

Re: arena_starship - 1Trace1 - 08-22-2008

I actually like it as an arena map. Although since it's the only arena map I've gotten a chance to play. So I don't really have anything to judge it against.
