Re: The official 'Hurricane Sandy, FML' thread - Neptune - 10-29-2012 In NY's capital district...it's barely even damp. It always rains on Halloween, so I'm not even a bit out of sorts. Actually, my mother in law works at the grocery store around here. She said people went bonkers, yesterday, and bought anything that they would conceivably need during the next ten years in their bunker. I can't stand how people treat weather like it's armageddon around here. It's not Florida, which actually gets hit by hurricanes. It's not Kansas, which gets his by tornados. This is NY. We get inconvenienced by power outages. Rationality doesn't sell newspapers. I mean not much sells newspapers these days, but still. Re: The official 'Hurricane Sandy, FML' thread - CaffeinePowered - 10-30-2012 Re: The official 'Hurricane Sandy, FML' thread - Coppanuva - 10-30-2012 No power outage, worst I had was my windows leaking a bit and no power surges even. Though my company webmail access is down so I guess I'll go over there and see what's up. Re: The official 'Hurricane Sandy, FML' thread - TOH - 10-30-2012 Made it through the night with power intact! Mass transit's still down though, and the office is in a mess with power issues in the city. Working from home today too. Re: The official 'Hurricane Sandy, FML' thread - at0m - 10-30-2012 Also working from home, power flickered quite a bit but I still have it. Looking outside, I see a lot of branches down but it's not even raining right now. |
