Sounds fun I miss camping.

Re: BRBU Camping Edition - rumsfald - 05-22-2013

if you woke up in Karrde's tent with a sore butt, would you tell anyone?

I wouldn't.

What happened?  Winterowned?

Re: Re: BRBU Camping Edition - Dtrain323i - 05-22-2013

Well have to probably rent a couple adjoining sites since most of the sites I'm finding have limits on how many people can stay on a site.

The site right next door to the one I linked to has a couple of cottages on it as well. I don't remember what it's called or its cost though. But I've been to the one I linked to when like 20 or 25 people have been there...

TENT COT
[Image: tentcot_oversize1.jpg]

If Caff comes and gets the double tent cot, his cot would be PARTY COT.

I agree, I mean, I probably would fly in honestly.  But I think it would be worth it because I have not gone camping in a while.

I saw the place you mentioned, and that looks like somewhere I would want to go, so yeah I am down for it.  Plus, South Dakotas probably not that expensive to fly to.

Re: BRBU Camping Edition - The Generic Name - 06-05-2013

So here is my idea:

Some weekend in August 2014
South Dakota (Dtrain had an idea for a campsite, and it looked pretty baller)

That sound good for everyone(who wants to go)?

Holy fuck that thing just solved my problem of needing both a tent and a cot.

what size is it when it's compacted?

Re: BRBU Camping Edition - [fr31ns]Karrde - 06-05-2013

Tent cot I think is designed for backpacking.  Also I can probably do anything any time as long as I have warning like 2 months out.

I'm thinking that this would be best planned for next summer. Gives everybody time to prepare for it.

That one was like....3'x3'x6" when compact, so its something  I would take if I was bringing a car or something.  Of course, the one right there is the second largest model.  I am not sure how small the smallest model compacts to, but it came in a box a lot smaller than mine.  Tentcot I brought to ACEN is something I would NEVER backpack with.  too cumbersome.

That's the plan.  Hopefully early to mid August of next year in South Dakota at the place Dtrain mentioned.  We'll have to pick a weekend or something that works well for everyone who wants to go.

[/quote]Something worth noting is that the last weekend of August is Labor Day (both in 2013 and 2014), which is both crowded as hell for camping and a weekend I've already got blocked out to go to Dragon*Con in Atlanta.

Check out Warbonnet, custom hiking hammocks.
Friend of mine bicycled half way across the country and back with one.

Re: BRBU Camping Edition - Elder - 06-06-2013

i have to say the suggestion of baraboo is fine with me. Ive been there twice and know that regional geology of the area quite well.

also its not real camping unless youre sleeping on the ground.

Does it count if you are in a tent or only a self built shelter? Because Ive only done the latter once

I count it.

Things I dont count:  Sleeping in a Hotel.  Your backyard.  The back of your truck.
Cabin is iffy.  I put it in its own category of cabin camping.

I dont think we should have to limit ourselves to one of these as long as we plan it a year in advance.
