Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - Wedge - 05-12-2008

I wasn't being serious at all.

But is there really a rocket jumping script?  What the hell would the point of that be?  How could anybody not be able to rocket jump, we're not playing on a console here @_@.

Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - rumsfald - 05-12-2008

Scripts are like fake tits. They may be spectacular and finish in the #1 or #2 spot of 90% of wet T-shirt nights, but they are no replacement for the real thing.

Scripts are for lzy fgts like Caff =X.

I bet scripts are why I end up #1 or #2 90% of the time too huh?

If that's true I'm subtracting 5 ranks from whatever leader board postion you hold at any given time.

..During Cardboard Fortress for now...

I recall Caff saying once that his scripts only do stuff that he would do otherwise but with less effort and I wouldn't question his skill as a player regardless but where is the line drawn? Any script is altering the gameplay, however insignificantly. Auto-RJ is legit, auto-build is legit, how about auto-aim or fuck it why not an auto-kill button?

Because auto-aim and auto-kill are impossible to script using the tools the source engine gives you? Scripts in tf2 are more 'batch' jobs, they don't really make anyone more skilled than they already are but they do make certain actions easier. I use a toggle script for the heavy so that I don't cramp up my finger holding the spin-up key, I use the pyro panic script for laughs and once in a while to really 'panic', I use build scripts because it cuts out a few annoying button presses as engie and I use the 'stab+lastdisguise' to save some button presses as well. There is no way to really cheat with client side scripts unless the server allows it and someone who is really skilled will be skilled if he uses scripts or not, the scripts just make eliminate some tedium while they also make your setup a little more complicated usually...

Hey now. Sad

I can do the standard rocket jump (jump, shoot down). I have trouble with the timing of the good rocket jump though (jump, crouch, shoot down), which is what the script addresses. :p

Scotty if I were you I'd rebind crouch to something really easy to press like shift.  It makes things so much easier.

Instead of ctrl? I use shift for voice right now, but I suppose I could easily switch. Smile

Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - Surf314 - 05-13-2008

I always rebind crouch to shift.  I think they used control because they were expecting it to be moderately useful.  But shift is a big long key and easy to reach with your pinky (which is probably why you have it bind to voice)

For voice I'd go with the 3rd, 4th or 5th mouse button  Wink

I have my third bound to last spy disguise, and lack and more buttons (standard $20 Microsoft optical mouse representin'!). :p

Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - Surf314 - 05-13-2008

Wow thats an excellent use of the 3rd button.  I will have to change.

Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - Mission Difficult - 05-30-2008

I use this for dimming the speakers during voice.

Code:
alias "+mute" "volume .1; +voicerecord"
alias "-mute" "-voicerecord; volume 1"
bind "MOUSE3" +mute

What exactly does that do?

Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - Vandamguy - 05-31-2008

makes your speakers quiet while you are using mic , then when you let go of Mic button speakers go back to regular volume

Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - copulatingduck - 05-23-2009

I don't condone this but...

Code:
//farming hlss
alias hlss-START "voice_inputfromfile 1; voice_loopback 1; +voicerecord; alias ToggleWAV hlss-STOP"
alias hlss-STOP "voice_inputfromfile 0; voice_loopback 0; -voicerecord; alias ToggleWAV hlss-START"
alias ToggleWAV "hlss-START"
voice_fadeouttime 0

//farming soundtrack
alias wav_loop     wav_1
alias wav_1    "ToggleWav; wait 34000; ToggleWav; alias wav_loop wav_2; wav_loop"
alias wav_2    "ToggleWav; wait 34000; ToggleWav; alias wav_loop wav_1; wav_loop"

//farming movement
alias "battlecry" "voicemenu 2 1";
alias "+farm" "battlecry; cl_yawspeed 125; +right; +forward; +attack";
alias "-farm" "-attack; -right; -forward; cl_yawspeed 0";

alias imgay    farmon
alias farmon    "+farm; wav_loop"
alias farmoff    "-farm; ToggleWav"
bind del "imgay"

HLSS required.

Music of choice: You Spin Me Round or something in the neighborhood of 3:20

ymmv, 34000 frames of wait works for my song of choice :p

Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - Eschatos - 05-23-2009

Yeah, can someone repost the script that allows connecting to Server 1 and 2 by just pressing F10/11?  I seem to have lost it.

You could do a bind just as easily. In the console type bind "f10" "connect 8.12.20.112:27015;password"

Re: The Magorium Script Emporium - copulatingduck - 05-23-2009

bind F10 "connect 8.12.20.112; password littlecart"
bind F11 "connect 18.243.2.105"

edit: mission beat me (furiously?)
