Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Surf314 - 01-18-2010 When does this release? Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Tricks - 01-18-2010 (01-18-2010, 03:52 PM)Surf314 link Wrote: When does this release? Early March. I know it's thinking ahead, but I want to put a lot of recon into it before I start a server. With TF2, I had Caff to lean on (read: carry me), so this I want to hit the ground running with. I'm sorely tempted to wait for steam support; if they have Cloud support and I just bought it from EA I would end up feeling really stupid (achievements.....yum). I assume this would pull in our small MW2 following as well; particularly if we can have our own server for it. Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Surf314 - 01-18-2010 Ive seen videos of MW2 and it really does not seem that great. I mean it feels like your are in an arcade and I mean that in a bad way. As much as I applicate the BRB tradition of derailing threads, let's try to keep this one on Bad Company 2 for now if possible. Thanks! Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Maxon - 01-18-2010 I think I'm gonna go and get it for the PC instead, so count me interested. Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Tricks - 01-18-2010 Battlefield Bad Company 2 Battlefield Moments Ep. 3 Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Mission Difficult - 01-18-2010 I'll probably wait till it's on steam to order. Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Wedge - 01-18-2010 I assume a lot of the game is dedicated to on foot boring COD/CS/Etc style gameplay? Unless it lets you specialize and only run vehicles and build engineer emplacements, I can't imagine being remotely interested in this. And vehicles don't look very fun when it seems like everyone can just carry around AV rockets without having to specialize. The closest I ever played to a "normal" shooter was W:ET, which is not realistic at all, and I mostly played medic and engineer in that. Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Maxon - 01-18-2010 It plays entirely different from games like COD and CS...Heck, COD and CS are pretty different. Not sure what your getting at really, especially with "Normal" shooter. BC2 has 4 classes you use. Medic, Assault, Recon, and Engineer. I'm sure there are limitations to what can be carried. Forget how it was before exactly, but it might like a weight or point system similar to what MAG is doing now. From what I remember from the first game, vehicles aren't the toughest to take out, but still can be damaging. Of course with 2 or 3 people shooting rockets, a tank will go down quick, but that is how it should be. A tank will need some support in an area it can be surrounded. I can't wait to use the new four-wheeler for super quick getting around, though they are gonna be such sniper fodder lol Re: BF: Bad company 2? - KorJax - 01-22-2010 He might be mentioning the fact that games like CSS/BF2 tend to have really basic "objectives" if you can even call them that, when in reality the whole game just boils down to a big deathmatch that tells you where to go. Personally I think stuff like capture points are sloppy design. How is being told to stand around in a single area for 10 seconds with the only goal of not dieing (which you already do outside of said objective) supposed to be engaging or fun? It's why games like Enemy Territory and Americas Army, and Dystopia were so fun to me. Those games actually had active objectives that needed to be done, the level acted as a vehicle for the gameplay instead of just being a DM zone. Though that's just me talking personally and he could be talking about something completely different Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Wedge - 01-22-2010 I'm just talking about them being modern combat styled games where you pick someone off halfway across a map with a burst from a machine gun. Those are the most abysmally boring games in the world to me. Damage falloff over range is the best thing ever (unless you're dealing with demomen, because they don't fucking have it and get to lay down a rolling carpet of full damage death >=/). Thatâs cool Wedge, and I can totally understand. Some gamers donât like Realism built into the titles they pick up. Iâve been talking to friends at different gaming groups and I hear a lot of talk that there is big interest in running dedicated servers for this game. Half is due to desire for IW vengeance; the other half is just excited for a new title. From the footage Iâve seen, I lot of the rifle fire is similar to MW2 with no damage drop off. A bullet from a gun at 2 feet or 200 feet is still going to cause damage, as it does in real life. If thatâs not your thing I understand. I do think this could be a great addition to our server lineup depending on a few variables. Maybe we can have an Armored Princess night to make up for it From what I am hearing back so far: there is interest, but we are waiting for Steam Cloud support. I am onboard with that. I will bump when pre-orders are up on Steam, and see if a few of us canât get into the beta. Beta should be starting this week. Until I figure out how to get into the Beta using a Steam purchase I would suggest holding off getting it. I will post a guide once I figure it out. Hearing good things about this already. Re: BF: Bad company 2? - zaneyard - 01-25-2010 (01-25-2010, 10:55 AM)TR1CK link Wrote: Pre-order is up on Steam; I bought it first hour it came out.
