I spent the weekend working with CEVO configs on Yellow, and the standard game mode is 2 twenty minute matches, giving us 40 minutes of play that could go into overtime depending on player skill. That is an awful lot of CTF. Furthermore, when I wrote the rules originally, there were a handful of teams with 3-4 members. Now we have eight full squads of six players. Using smaller CTF maps made sense with 3-4 players, but I think now that we are much closer to an actual TF2 ladder in terms of size, we can incorporate maps and rules that make more sense. Standard 5CP maps such as Granary, Well, Freight, and Badlands will be used. It is BRBâs first tournament, so I appreciate your flexibility in advance. Considering the level of feedback I received in PMs, I strongly doubt this will be an unpopular choice. To better illustrate the changes, I made a video this weekend. I was going to post it later in the week (the comment about âtonightâ should be a tip-off), but this way you can see what a CP map config looks like along with the other changes I have made to the server. Forgive my terrible mic. Changes to Yellow If you would like to book the server to practice and see the new changes, please let me know. I can lock it down for you to practice. Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Cataract - 01-11-2010 This makes things.....interesting. Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - KarthXLR - 01-11-2010 No randomness will most certainly bump up the stakes a bit. Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Coppanuva - 01-11-2010 How is scheduling going to work? I mean realistically, we can't have all the matches going on at the same time. So are we just going to take turns on Friday sitting ready until our match or what? Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Radio Raheem - 01-11-2010 are you picking set maps per round or are teams choosing themselves? some maps obviously play a bit better than others. cp_well has a gigantic stalemate pushing 2nd point due to garage doors etc. the ones generally considered best would easily be badlands, granary, yukon, or freight pretty much in that order. and obviously gravel pit is a standard map aswell Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Tricks - 01-11-2010 (01-11-2010, 06:20 PM)Coppanuva link Wrote: How is scheduling going to work? I mean realistically, we can't have all the matches going on at the same time. So are we just going to take turns on Friday sitting ready until our match or what? I am going to random the team order. Matches on the CEVO config are first to five wins on push, or highest score after 30 minutes. So no match should take more than 30 minutes, so we should be able to knock it out in 2 hours. Really, if something goes wrong and your team can't make it, we can always push till the next day, though I would rather have it all in one night for streaming purposes. Since FNF starts at 8, we start the matches at 6:30 if the first two teams can make it. I have pulled a big variety of maps, including most of the CEVO and TWL league packs as well as a few other popular maps. I would like to open it up and let every choose whatever cp map they want, but like you said with well there can be frustrating stalemates. I think I will have a pool of 4-5 maps that you can agree on as teams. If there isn't a clear favorite, I will just pick Badlands or Granary. I would like to see some maps like Follower or Gullywash get a chance to see some action, but a tournament isn't the place to do that. Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - backfire - 01-12-2010 So how are matches goin to be held anyways. Is it just one match a night or are we gunna roll through the season in one night? If it's just one a night, do we have a schedule of what teams will be fighting what week? Re: Jan 2010 Tournament: Welcome to the BRB Superbowl! - Tricks - 01-12-2010 Just to clarify, the config file I use is called âCEVO Pushâ. The tournament will be all 5cp maps, like Granary and badlands. The Mod is called Push, but we will not be pushing any carts. I wanted to make that clear as I was getting questions about it. This is 5 capture point maps ONLY. Thanks! |
