Same here for me. When I was playing on red last night I was getting random fps drops and spikes every couple seconds for minutes at a time and I felt like my shots were not exactly hitting on target half of the time. Could have been my comp acting up like it usually does, so I say more testing is required before I come to conclusions.

As for the vanilla on blue, I say it's a refreshing change of pace to the variety of weapons available now, albeit it won't be a replacement for the TF2 we have now. I also have to agree with sk8 on the manual switching of the weapons on the vanilla server. It will be even harder to seed it if pubbies are forced to use a couple more seconds of their life to change their loadout to vanilla just so they can see their weapons when they can just use those seconds to join a different server. Just my two and a half pennies.

Well its just an experiment, I know we'll see some people join go 'wtf my weapons' then leave immediately. Id bet the people that take the time to unequip would be the kind of people to favorite the server and come back in the future.

You'll have to set up the little thing that pops up for when you connect to the server to tell everyone why they don't have any of there weapons. Cause, you know, people totally read that. [:

Well it also gives people a few minutes to talk up the map and tell pubbies to "download it", should help a bit at least, but hey, you got the server you wanted, now you have to work to rebuild the population base Undecided

This.  Talking up the map and letting people know that it's good and that we do test all maps before letting them on the server helps a LOT.  That and letting ppl know we have a download server so the map won't finish downloading as soon as the next round is over Tongue

Also, noticing my stuttering is better (might be coincidence) and I think I'm getting better hitscan reg.  My melee is off, but I'm used to trying to figure out what the server actually wants me to do, so it might take some time.

I got a reply from the other plugin author, it is possible to auto-replace with stock, so pubbies don't have to be confused, I will be replacing the plugin when I get home tonight

I'm one of those crazies that can't stand the new unlocks. Lemme say this: I've had an issue with this ever since the scout update. And yes, I don't have to use them. My issue is that others use them, and that they're particularly annoying to be killed by.

I don't think anyone thought that. People just can't handle adapting to new stuff. Then they blame it on shit like "Oh, it's cheap now because you have to buy everything." People are just too lazy/impatient to wait for the drops or do the achievements.

i am pretty sure i have all of the unlocks and i can completely understand where they are coming from. it's nothing that simple.

Anyways, the plugin on Blue doesn't 100% work. Several of the newer items aren't blocked including the scottsman skullcutter and the fish.

Fish is a reskin, so its basically exactly the same as the bat, the skullcutter should be doing the same thing as the bottle, ie. same damage

I asked the plugin maker about forcing attributes vs forcing models

I have a majority of the unlocks people use and I haven't even been playing the game for two months.

Hmmm, a launch-era TF2 server, eh?  Will it be using the original maps, or will there be some of the newer ones sprinkled in?  Either way, a noble experiment which I hope I can partake in soon, if there's anybody actually playing on Blue.

Its set up just for "stock" maps, so technically 'launch era' plus whatever maps valve has made standard since

Thank god. Then spies would have a 30 second wait time for full cloak, soldiers and demomen would be even more cancerous spam factories with 6 rounds of their primary, pyros would be terribad laughing stocks, and medics would be boring.

Ok, found a plugin that actually 100% works

No swapping weapon features or shit like that, you just get forced to the original three weapons, no ifs ands or buts, tested it this morning, it also has a toggle for hats and action items (dueling games) as well


Edit: If anyone ever wants to do another vanilla themed TF2 night on Red, the new one is simply a cvar, not even a plugin, any admin could set tf_allow_unlocks to 0 or 1 to turn it on or off
