I'm pretty sure they just made it so items drop more frequently; i.e. you find twice as many items within the same time limit. Â The limit isn't on # of items you find, it's on the amount of gameplay hours during which you can get drops.

Having an icon I can just double click and it automatically opens a textmode TF2 that can idle and doesn't affect my TF2 I run through steam at all. Makes idling pretty easy.

and valve has been known to roll back backpacks and strip items gotten that way.

So if I idle using textmode I might lose items? Or are you talking about something different (I don't understand the "doesn't affect my TF2 I run through steam" part)?
For reference, what I do is just change the launch options to "-textmode -novid -nosound +map ctf_2fort +sv_lan 1".

its just like the Idle program made by drunken F00l, Valve want to make sure you in game to get items, no short cuts.

It was. Using text-mode is perfectly fine. I just thought they took that out a while ago.

Why would they punish you for using a method they added to their own game? From what I've read around people have been using text mode idling for a while.

I only ever idle in text mode. Have been doing so for well over a year. Have never had an issue with having an item taken away. Using text mode is fine.
