I'd recommend starting a new list, I know there were a handful that posted in the super thread after tryouts were complete.

that list must have been a painful process to through Kor! i'm pretty surprised to see myself on there, but it'll be an honour to be a part of this :-X :-X

how often would we be scrimming and what not? would we have designated days (but not so much times)?

Since you are not on a league schedule it could be any day at any time, I would suggest that we do some kind of first practice maybe on saturday or sunday.

@Kor
Maybe the original tryout thread should be locked since it's no longer relevant? Your thread though, so I'll leave that to you. Smile

One other thing, I would recommend against having a second team unless you understand the following. Just because Kor picked the listed people does not mean that they will all work out. Some people could continually have time conflicts, miss practices, and end up being removed from the list from a lack of time commitment.

If that happens, someone who didn't make the list, but was close will likely be asked to come on. The problem then is if you make a second team, you might get someone 'called up' so to speak.

As long as you understand this, and again, as long as theres no divide in doing it, you don't a second steam group or anything like that, feel free to do it and have fun Smile

I AM PSYCHED! Let's get this party started. I'm sure I can manage making it either Saturday or Sunday for a scrim provided its around the usual time we play (9pm EST). I have to get in some "quality time" with the misses beforehand if I am to avoid her evil scorn for playing too much  Tongue ;D

@All: Practices have no direction unless you're preping for a match. If any on the |GW| boys are reading this, drop me a PM, see if we can roll a friendly.

@Scotty: Good call.

@Versus: I'm a tad disappointed at getting no response at all Sad

@All part 2: I'd hate to see my fears confirmed about a split within the community, even in jest, the divide can be quite real Sad

Fuck yea Marching Band!

I like the idea of a second team. In fact, I know another clan who's "2nd stringers" have improved to the point of whooping on the 1st stringers in scrims. Tongue

Also, I blame the [TC] fallout on GHost leaving the country.

As much as I'd love to do some for realz scrims and such, I 1) suck and 2) work 5 nights a week, thus ruling out any fun time with legit groups.  I'll stick to my random pub play with a few brb.u members :/

Re: Cereal Business: BAL-SACK's found in every third bowl of dicks. - Dave - 06-27-2008

The other team should be called 'SECOND BANNANNAS'

or BANANAS if you want to spell it american.

and you could have a picture of a banana beating the shit out of other fruit

I'm in the same boat, I have to balance this with wife and work responsibilities, both of which are unpredictable.

Yeah, I like the idea of us scrimming ourselves.  Maybe we could set aside one night per week for a super cereal session.

A few people have asked if I'd captain a second team. I said I'd wait for that very reason. Let's give it a little time to see how the one team pans out, and after a week or two start thinking about things. In my mind a second team would be little more than a practice team for Kor's awesome picks. Smile

Re: Cereal Business: BAL-SACK's found in every third bowl of dicks. - Surf314 - 06-27-2008

My two cents:

We have a lot of awesome players here, and a team that works together well and has a good captain can often beat teams with star players (see basketball), that coupled with our general philosophy of equality makes me think that if anyone else wants to be captain and get a team together than they should.

This assumes:
1.  That you'd take it seriously but keep it friendly
2.  No ones feelings get hurt and that people are courteous about their selections
3.  If you are on the team you respect the team by doing your best and being considerate and if you are a captain you respect your team by being organized and effective
4.  Everyone keeps in mind that we are all BRBU, and that we are all equals and that there are no cliques (that is whats hurting Dtoid right now so we will take a lesson from that)

That said it'd be a lot of fun to do serious matches against each other like pick-ups and we can have spectators too!  Competition will help us sharpen each other.  As far as what we put up versus outside teams I'd just say the best team when we play against each other should be our pick.  If needed we can also do like drafts and trades or keep Kor's team as the serious outside competing one.  But for me I think the key is when a team works well together, and swapping out players often would hurt that.

Meh, I predicted as much.

Re: Cereal Business: BAL-SACK's found in every third bowl of dicks. - Ianki - 06-27-2008

I would love to see a second team, hell i wouldn't want to be on the first team.  Too much pressure.

I just really like the idea of a scheduled pick up scrim of V vs JV where it doesn't have to be a fat kid situation, and you can really work on building a team.  It helps the BAL-SAC and it's fun for all. I don't see any hard feelings, as i don't see any hard feelings now.

(also, i think scotty would be great putting it together quickly, unless someone else volunteers)
