Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - Eschatos - 05-30-2010 I'm up for a game. Me and Odin did some games with some friends of mine. Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - Turtle - 05-30-2010 I lost my old impulse acc do i need a new one to play Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - Odin - 05-30-2010 (05-30-2010, 09:56 PM)Eschatos link Wrote: I'm up for a game. Me and Odin did some games with some friends of mine. The one where I spawned on the wrong end of the map, not cool mang, at least you were cool about it until I started wreckin your stuff Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - Eschatos - 05-31-2010 (05-30-2010, 11:43 PM)Odin link Wrote:
The one where I spawned on the wrong end of the map, not cool mang, at least you were cool about it until I started wreckin your stuff
FU. I still don't get how I didn't totally rape your mothership to death. Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - Surf314 - 05-31-2010 I bought entrenchment and beat my first game. I'd be down for some multi. I started another medium map and got raped by the computer. Two of them sent me after the third and just as I was about to wipe them out and take their shit they broke alliance with me and tag teamed me. So I restarted and carved out a nice empire with three well defended buffer planets. These starbase thingee are strange though, how do you work them? For vasari: Research the ability under the defense tab Make a colony ship, or snag one free Use deploy starbase ability Starbases can be upgraded, and have 8 upgrade points per base, some upgrades have tiers like weapons and hull plating, others may not. Each upgrade invested in, or tier, uses however many resources and one point. All else: Same as above but starbases build from dedicated cruisers, not colony ships. Oh also Vasari starbases can heal and move around their gravity well, which is pretty sweet. Thata boy! Vasari is the way to go. Like Odin said, use a colony ship (the Jarun Migrator for Vasari, under Frigates) to "morph" into one (after you've done the research). The original Migrator is consummed in the process of building a Starbase, so keep that in mind. It takes awhile to deploy, so make sure you escort/guard the Migrator while it's deploying. Starbases are expensive, and can be a huge resource-pit if you let it get destroyed while deploying. You can deploy a Starbase in ANY gravity well. I.E. One you own, or one you do not. It's pretty awesome to deploy one in an enemy's gravity well during an invasion. After it is built, like Odin said, you can (and should) upgrade it. Some abilities have to be unlocked through the Defense tab. Each Starbase has only 8 possible "levels" (in other words, you can only upgrade them 8 times. So you can focus on making some abilities really good, or spread the base's abilities out), so choose your abilities based on the situation you find yourself in. The Vasari are the ONLY race who's Starbases are able to move (only in the gravity well they are built in), so you don't have to be too careful on where exactly you deploy them. They are slow though, so it helps to deploy them in an area at high-risk if you can afford to do so. Starbases are EPIC for defending those gravity wells that can't be colonized (like Plasma Storms or Wormholes), but are of majour strategic value. With Entrecnhment, the Vasari now have a mine-laying ship too: http://sinsofasolarempire.wikia.com/wiki/Sivuskras_Ruiner They are also awesome, if used right. Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - Odin - 06-01-2010 Yea and Vasari base can get a phase tunnel, so previously inaccessible staging areas, like the aforementioned wormholes, stars, etc, can be quickly navigated to. Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - at0m - 06-01-2010 I don't really get what those are for. Allows ships to phase jump from any planet with one, to any planet with one, bypassing long routes with multiple stops for one straight route. Interesting tidbit: The Vasari superweapon can create a temporary phase-tunnel to the planet it's used on, allowing for mass invasions deep into enemy territory. Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - at0m - 06-01-2010 O RLY, I'll have to try that one Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - Black Aspen - 06-02-2010 Sadly, they don't work between allies though. Which sucks. It would make total sense to be able to do so (your ally is getting swarmed, and you'd be able to come to their rescue if you could use their phase-gate to enter their system), but it's not possible. Booo. Re: Sins of a Solar Empire - Surf314 - 06-02-2010 What makes the Vasari partially ignore shields? Because it's saved my ass many times and I don't even know what it was.
