Oh it is.  1 random person starts out as a zombie (slow movement, high health, and strong melee swipes only), everyone else as a survivor.  The survivors all race through the map trying to collect the limited resources available to them.  For instance, there's generally only one M16 for the entire map, so everyone will haul ass to try to be the only survivor with it.  When someone is killed (only by the zombie), they respawn onto the zombie team, dropping all their belongings for other survivors to pick up (So if you wanted the M16, just hover around the guy that's carrying it, and hope he gets mauled early on.  And since he's a lot slower than you, maybe you could even make the zombies aware of your location?).  This keeps up (going much quicker as the number of zombies increases) until everyone is dead, or the timer runs out, meaning victory to the survivor(s).

I've witnessed some epic standoffs, such as a lone survivor atop the roof of a church steeple, firing down onto hordes of zombies that are coming from all angles.  The bodies piled up, and we were getting closer and closer, but he ran out the clock and won.

Never tried the HL2 version.  Ya, I might join you sometime soon.  It probably won't even run properly on my system though.

My friend played this and was saying its ok but when you die you just sit around and do nothing like CS.
