Re: Frappr - Surf314 - 04-24-2008

Hey Kor thought you'd appreciate this but this guy that is coming over on friday is making us all top hats.  It's made with guinness and I think a llambic?  And you pour it in some way they stay separated or something.  Sounds complicated.

Re: Frappr - Black Aspen - 04-24-2008

I'm old enough to drink, but keep my motor running clean.  I'm pretty much straight edge, except for that whole "no fucking" thing.

You need to learn the wonders of alcohol, the cause of and solution to, all of life's problems

Re: Frappr - Eschatos - 04-24-2008

I thought violence was the cause and solution to all life's problems.

Never heard of it, the closest thing I could find is this:

Top Hat

A popular drink in the '30s was Guinness and ginger beer. It celebrated the famous dancing partnership of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. The black-and-white Guinness symbolises Fred Astaire's top hat and tails, and ginger beer Ginger Rogers.

This is it exactly except sub out ginger beer for a beer brewed with fruit juices.

So long as its not a raspberry based brew, the hops really interfere with that flavour :/ On the flip side, I've had a wonderous apple-based ale. I'm thinking that would be fantastic alongside Guinness. Let me know how this mixes work out, this might be worth introducing to a fellow Guinness lover I know.

Edit: How is it all these threads degrade so quickly Tongue

Re: Frappr - rumsfald - 04-25-2008

Your raspberries in my hops? O NOZ.

My preferred lambic is Lindemans Peche (peach). But I don't see it going well with a Guiness.  Maybe if you swapped the Guiness for a smoother/sweeter stout like Sam Smith's Oatmeal or a Murphy's.  Then again, why would you waste a perfectly good stout.

As for the pour, it's the same technique as a black&tan.  light stuff in first, pour second slowly. use a spoon if u r nub.

While we are defiling our perfectly good pints, the radler is also a swell summer beverage.  Half-lemonade (or lemon-lime soda, but I like lemonade) and half German Hefe-weizen (of the imported bottles, Weinstephan is usually the best, Hacker-Pschorr is suprisingly good, and Paulaner is consistent).  It's really good when you need to quench your thirst on a hot summer's day (do they have those in Ontario?) and want to pace yourself.

As for degrading...what?  I consider the topic hijack from maps to spirits to be elevating the discourse.

40C is not uncommon for southern ontario during august. That's 40*1.8+32=104F, for the non-metric types(get with the 19th century, thanks).

Is that the same thing as a Black and Tan. Guiness and Harp makes for a pretty good one. The beers are different densities or something, and all you do is pour it over a spoon so it goes on top lightly without mixing. Neat stuff. Smile

Oh, and added myself.

Heh... Frappr. It could be a fart, it could be a masturbation sound. You never know!

Re: Frappr - Surf314 - 04-25-2008

The top hats I would recommend them, don't listen to rummy it's a raspberry lambic.  You pour it first.  Then put a spoon over it and pour the guinness, but be careful not to mix.  Deliciousness ensues.

Applauded for making me look up narping. Bravo sir, I now know several worthless definitions for a nonsensical word. Hopefully genetic research will soon will put us one step closer to telepathy, so I can stop witnessing the english language degrade into a complete affront to accepted phonetic and grammatical norms.
