I am extremely self conscious and I don't like to make an ass out of myself in front of others, that's how I see it. Every time I try to do something akin to dancing I get the huge overwhelming feeling that I'm being retarded and should stop, and that is something I can ONLY get over in the shower. As for parties, I don't mind but I'm usually the one sitting around watching everyone else being stupid. I can drink quite a bit before being drunk but somehow, after about three or four, I usually just don't want anymore and I stop. I might open another with the intent of drinking it but it loses its interest for me somehow. I am much happier at a party where there is something to do, like a hot tub or some outdoor games or something. More casual and with fewer people, like bonfire size or something. Replaced by worlds being created and destroyed by your imagination. A way to focus the mind. Where is the need for self-consciousness in that? My quarrel wasn't with the points you were trying to make, Duck, but rather how you were making them. Saying you have outgrown something, denotes seniority and indirectly superiority and makes you sound like an insolent prick. If you pay attention, you'll notice that just about everyone else around you is just as bad a dancer as you are. It's like at a public party when they start serving food... there's always a hesitation from everyone who doesn't want to be the first one to go up, but once it starts then things move smoothly. ... If that makes any sense... :-\ Re: The Celebration of My Victory was AWESOME! - ainmosni - 07-09-2008 (07-09-2008, 11:42 AM)CopulatingDuck link Wrote: [quote author=Budr link=topic=777.msg20108#msg20108 date=1215619975] I was ready to have a reasonable discussion until I read that. Yes it's primal but many of the best things in life (sex, good food, friendship) are... If these are things that one "grows out of" then I'd rather stay primitive and enjoy these things... What I think is that without alcohol you feel really self-conscious, which is very normal... many people have that and it's nothing to be ashamed of. You said yourself that you do dance when you drink and as alcohol lets one lose ones inhibitions I would say you're less "too grown up" for dancing and more self-conscious about it. But I agree with Budr that saying you're too "grown up" to dance was very inflammatory when a simple "I don't like dancing" would have sufficed. Those make me happy. Re: The Celebration of My Victory was AWESOME! - Versus - 07-09-2008 Luin, I feel the same. Plus I don't like dancing anyway. LAWL DANCING IZ 4 KIDS Re: The Celebration of My Victory was AWESOME! - Eschatos - 07-09-2008 I'm way too self-conscious to dance 99% of the time. Usually my friends have to threaten me for anything to happen. Re: The Celebration of My Victory was AWESOME! - Versus - 07-09-2008 My friends do threaten me and I don't do anything. Re: The Celebration of My Victory was AWESOME! - CaffeinePowered - 07-09-2008 Theres a simple fact that explains all of this, white people can't dance, its the law or something Re: The Celebration of My Victory was AWESOME! - Versus - 07-09-2008 (07-09-2008, 06:23 PM)CaffeinePowered link Wrote: Theres a simple fact that explains all of this, white people can't dance, its the law or something That's another reason why I don't. |
