Fandubs are the way to go. Often better quality then DVDs (Japanese TV rips are 720p+) better translations, cooler looking subs, Karaoke subs on openings. Plus you aren't breaking any copyright laws as non-licensed Japanese TV shows are do not have American copyrights, ala gray-market.

So finding a fan sub is akin to using netflix?

Moral flexibility and copyright loopholes ftw

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - A. Crow - 07-13-2008

we're approaching a grey area that tends to make vandam edit posts and utter inane grumblings about breaking the law how his thong annoys him when it rides up.

Back on Topic, Claymore is looking pretty good.

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - A. Crow - 07-14-2008

Also, maybe you guys can help me identify an anime.

I think I was 8 or so at the time so think early 90s.  Saw this movie on SciFi channel, as I remember plotwise, it was about a group of kids who became trapped in a bubble dimension comprised of the town they lived in, but no other people.  One of them had a tank.  At one point, as a joke, the tank was driven into a pool.  The girl had ears, a tail and could fly.  The grocery store never ran out of food.  Eventually they figured out they were basically in a construct of one of their minds and some crazy shit happened while they were trying to get out/during this whole movie.

Any ideas?

Why is it in england every channel seems to be either a BBC # or a Sky #, are there only 2 TV companies?

Also why can't we get Terry Pratchett movies without having to pirate them  :'( (can't wait for the next one, fuck I forgot which book they are doing)

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - jdub28 - 07-14-2008

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - A. Crow - 07-26-2008

ΠΛΑΝΗΤΕΣ (Planetes for those who don't read greek) is now my new favorite anime.  Yes.  I have chosen one.

We should just rename this thread "Crow watches more anime than you, so listen to him drone on"

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - Vongore - 07-26-2008

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - Luinbariel - 07-26-2008

Excel Saga!

Useless and hilarious.

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - A. Crow - 07-26-2008

excel saga's wikipedia page has the largest warning block I've ever seen on wikipedia... It has to be good. but right now I'm working on Darker than Black, and after that I think I'm going on to Betterman.

If you like Excel Saga, you may also like Puni Puni Poemy, also funny and useless. But, it must only be watched in Japanese... the english translation is bullshit.
