All of the Disney sequels make me angry.

Pitch black was cool....chronicals of riddick however...

My point exactly. Duck: rewatch Pitch Black, it's a very, very cool movie.

Predator 2, Aliens 3, and Aliens: Resurrection.

Complete and utter total fail for that. Predator 2 was a different movie but still kick-ass. Alien 3 was a brilliant return to the claustrophic, thrilling, isolated feel of the first film (not that I disliked Aliens, I have much love for the whole series) and Resurrection, whilst a downpoint for the series, was still a classic film, if only for the cast.

For me it's got to be the Matrix sequels. The first movie, well, it was just HOLY SHIT when it came out...the second and third, yeah... :-\

Also, Jurassic Park sequels. Also, also, X-Men 3...X-Men 2 was one of the best comic book movies I've ever seen (DAVID HAYTER!). Indiana Jones IV?

I was so close to listing both the Jurassic Park and Matrix sequels in my post but, after consideration, I decided they weren't that bad, they just happen to have followed outstanding originals.

I think the problem with X3 was trying to cram too much into the film. They should have either made a movie following the Phoenix storyline or left out that sub-plot altogether.

Also, back the fuck away from Indie IV. You're cruising for a bruising if you start badmouthing that masterpiece of cinema.

For me, I go see movies for the visual effects. I'm a big nerd like that, so that's why I didn't enjoy the Matrix or JP sequels. The originals of these movies looked so amazing! When I think great visual effects, I think REALISTIC. I don't want to look at a movie and instantly realize that what I'm looking at is CGI. That ruins it for me... Sad

Just thought I'd let you know, when I hate on a movie, it's usually for completely different reasons than most people...that's why I listed those sequels as well. The Matrix, Jurassic Park, and X-Men 2 are known to have some of the greatest visual effects in the industry. Someone just got lazy on the production of their sequels...

As for Indy IV, I was going to list The Dark Knight at first...HAHA! I thought I could catch a few people off-guard there. I'm only kidding, though, I enjoyed both movies. Besides, Budr, you scare me... :'(

EDIT: Oh, and don't worry. I know it sounds weird to go see movies just for the visual effects, but I don't ignore the rest of the movie altogether. Also, when it comes to games, I'm no graphics whore...I would much rather enjoy the content and mechanics...

As if MK1 was so good...

The lack of Space Jam 2. And Indy 4 was the worst movie I've seen this year.

Re: worst sequels ever. - shipero - 07-21-2008

No mention of Lost World: Jurassic Park yet? Especially considering how it could have been.

Well said! So many people write off the first film and granted it was essentially a cheesy, popcorn flick but still solid and entertaining.

HAHAHAH popcorn.  Never mind.  There is a movie out there called Popcorn.  Its about this guy who is trying to get a girlfriend and just happence that he finds the chick who is hot and she is working at the movies.  So he gets a job over there and just to find that she is leaving the next day.  LOL  i think its a british comedy.  Anyone knows what i am talking about?
A+ movie!

Re: worst sequels ever. - cannedpeahes - 07-21-2008

In a GIS for Starship Troopers (for the bewbs, of course), I mispelled it "starshrimp troopers".

Then I realized just how awesome that would be.

I do believe I have seen that. IIRC, it had Jamie Mitchell from Eastenders in it, which will mean nothing to anyone non-English, of course. I remember it being terrible but redeemed but the amazing girl he was chasing.

I don't think I can ever acknowledge Predator 2 as being awesome, and while I do agree Resurrection was good, it was just a downer compared to some of the other films. I might give 3 another watch (I've got the series box set) though with what you said in mind, as you do make a good point. I'll let you know if my opinion changes. Big Grin
