Re: Rock Band for Wii - bjlsurfer - 07-29-2008 I don't think Nintendo was ever REALLY about the hardcore gamer- they've been about building a system, and building strong 1st party games for that system that anyone can enjoy- I mean, sure, Zelda and Metroid are kind of hardcore IPs, but compared to stuff like Gears of War, SOCOM, Tom Clancy games, they seem pretty accessible. Most of the real "hardcore" games on past systems like Goldeneye, RE4, etc, were third party. This generation Nintendo realized that they had to do something different than Microsoft and Sony, because last gen they didn't, and they literally couldn't afford to put out another Gamecube-like platform. So for their next platform, I don't think they're going to make it more "hardcore" like the Xbox 360 or the PS3. HD? Sure, it's reaching a point where that makes financial sense for Nintendo. Better Online? Probably that too- even casual gamers can appreciate being able to play with friends in other places. But will Nintendo switch back to a regular controller and start trying to be an Xbox? No way, not after how well they've done with Wii. I'm guessing Nintendo's next showing is going to be an update to the DS, and then after a few years we might start hearing about a new console with better graphics, online, and more accurate controls (ie MotionPlus). Who knows? Maybe they'll surprise us with another revolutionary change. But right now, Nintendo doesn't NEED to change- they just need to keep cranking out more tiny white boxes and counting their money. Sure, they've disappointed me a little, but my PC is my hardcore system. Wii is for when friends come over, or for when I'm in the mood for something a little less hectic than TF2. And it does that pretty well. They've made money on every Wii they sell. They dont have that gap that Sony or MS does. Provided they continue to take the approach that they always have, and that is to make money on the actual system as well as the games they will continue to do fine.
Didn't know that. I was assuming that after seeing this on my feedreader this morning. Re: Rock Band for Wii - KarthXLR - 07-29-2008 @ bjlsurfer I noticed that the only "hardcore" games you listed were FPS.... Re: Rock Band for Wii - xlilkrissyx - 07-30-2008 ROCKBAND FOR WII IS ASS . You know what's funny? They are releasing rockband 2 for wii... IN ONLY 6 MONTHS. Too funny. Atleast they didn't make some stupid ploy with the wiimote for rockband. They will for konami's rock revolution, though. Re: Rock Band for Wii - Luca Shoal - 07-30-2008 <3 Ballroom Blitz. Also <3 Run To The Hills (I finished up Solo Career on Medium Guitar today). Timmy & The Lords of the Underworld is a bitch on guitar, also. It's the ONLY song I 3 star'd. And now I just have to buy Rock Band 2, the game. I don't need to buy the whole huge set . Well...other than another guitar. Damn shame the GHIII guitars don't work with Rock Band.
well if they want to be cunts and make a shitty guitar i'll spend money on a company's product that will actually work instead of coping with a piece of junk, but yes, agreed. |
