Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - Evil Cheese - 07-31-2008 I just got it last night for the PS3. I'm loving it so far, but I really haven't played very much. I wish I could use my GC controller with the PS3, I liked that controller the best for SCII. I can't wait to make a custom character. Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - Tragic Hero - 07-31-2008 (07-31-2008, 02:50 PM)Evil Cheese link Wrote: I just got it last night for the PS3. Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - Scary Womanizing Pig Mask - 08-08-2008 As embarrassing as this is, I've been having a lot of trouble pulling off the different throws. I can do the A+G, B+G and special throws fine, but I'm at a complete lost on how to pull of the rest. They list the input as Left Side Throw but I have no clue what that means >.< Any tips? Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - HuckBerryGee - 08-08-2008 I believe you need to grab them from the side and back. I'd also like to play it with a GC controller, played the 2nd with it. I want to unlock all the stuff but the explanations arent very clear as to what to do to get the rewards. I'm sure there's an FAQ detailing how to get all the honors, but I think you can unlock most of the stuff just by playing through Story Mode and Tower of Lost Souls. Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - Tragic Hero - 08-08-2008 Anyone else think the Critical Finishers are the dumbest things ever? I know they can't really make them the easiest things to pull off but to get someone in the red for their Soul Crush and then having to break a piece of armor as well AND having to hit the button at the right exact moment? I would rather not even have it in the game than to have the ability to one hit finish someone when its almost easier just to beat them the normal way. Not really. They're not to had to pull off once you figure out when to hit the button. They are rare, but that's the way they should be. If they were more commonplace the game would devolve into who could pull one off first. They're not something you actively try to achieve, but if the opportunity arises, it a flashy way to deal a finishing blow.
The one hit kills in Guilty Gear are nice, you can do them at just about any time, but your opponent would know they are coming and they seriously debilitate you if you screw up. I doubt they're even usable in cereal play, but they're fun as hell to have for casual play.
See I would rather have that. A ridiculously noticable move to pull off or maybe even a move you perform mid combo that is easy to block or avoid. I've played plenty of matches against the computer where I have broken all 3 armor pieces before I can even get the soul crush meter into flashing red. Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - Scary Womanizing Pig Mask - 08-08-2008 It all really comes down to opinion really. I like the CFs and find them a nice ububtrusive addition to the game, but I can understand why you don't. Hopefully Soul Calibur V will come up with a system that pleases us both ^_^ Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - Tragic Hero - 08-08-2008 Don't get me wrong I love the game but just that and the whole clothing affects your attributes thing turns me off. Good thing you can turn that off but its kind of lame when you play the tower mode and your guy possibly has to look like a douche if you want him to be tough (that is if you haven't unlocked enough parts yet). Yeah, that's why I don't use CASs in TOLS. Although I'll occasionally use my Solidus since he has pretty nice stats Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - cbre88x - 08-10-2008 I'm just fine with using The Apprentice and Mitsurugi. Re: Soul Calibur IV anyone? - HuckBerryGee - 08-11-2008 I don't get how the friends game invites work, I know pig mask sent me one and it refused me in for some reason. When I got the GC version of Soul Caliber II, all I did was throw everyone out or killed them that way. Too easy.
