I honestly don't know what gamespy is either, I think it was a match making service way back when for online PC games. Have no idea what they do now except annoy.

Um, Gamespy is a general news/reviews/etc gaming site. They did have some software that could act as server browsers and allow you to quickly find games to connect to, but afaik they stopped that.
