all my middle ages history knowledge comes from copious amount of time playing age of empires 1 and 2

in aoe1 , you play Hitties. their catapults and horse back archers were fearsome

in aoe2 you play Bretons, 200 english longbowmen could stop anything
What about 3?

I kinda liked AoE 3. Just not the completely useless tribes expansion.

Re: Total War - ainmosni - 11-09-2008

TBH I always preferred the total war series to the AoX series, the way they do the tactical battles is just awesome...

Rome would be my favourite but I'm really looking forward to Empire... Haven't played Medieval II much because it was released at a bad time for me and I never came around to playing it...

Re: Total War - Eschatos - 11-24-2008

This thread got me to start playing Rome: Total War again.  There's nothing like a good old bridge battle, where a single unit of Principes can get over 900 kills.  Apparently there's a bug in the game where routing enemy troops on a bridge will try to flee through my lines, getting slaughtered in the process.

Re: Total War - Tragic Hero - 11-24-2008

THat almost looks like the tutorial mission in the beginning

Re: Total War - Eschatos - 11-26-2008

I found a mod that allows PBEM multiplayer campaign.  Anyone up for a game?

Re: Total War - Vandamguy - 12-21-2008

also , i forgot to add that the tech they are using to share this game is pretty interesting , and could lead to a particularly nasty type of DRM if someone was so inclined.

OK, Empire is looking to be the best Total War yet...

Re: Total War - Benito Mussolini - 12-29-2008

I think naval battles is a great thing to add...
And that fight looks epic, but I wonder how smooth such a battle would run...
