He bobbed and weaved, rendering his attack harmless (although the Arab cultural offense of showing he bottom of the shoe was still received. Wouldn't call it owning him, but Bush did diffuse his assault.

I would say the insult (one of the worst in Arab culture) is a lot worse than being hit by the shoe... Furthermore Bush showed his ignorance again by not even seeing the significance of a shoe being thrown at him... If he took it with more gravity, I would have respected him more. (Anything is more than 0...)

While I agree, the thrower definitely got there insult across, what do you want Bush to do? When a shows flying at you're head, your not going to take the time to ponder the significance of this cultural insult, your gonna duck
I'm with you that he's a disgrace of a president, but he handled this whole indecent fine.
