They should have gotten a better team after oblivion, it improved in FO3 but is still not up to snuff imo. Have a huge world with no depth just makes its all meaningless, sure its pretty, but whats the god damn point of having a gigantic pool if the water only ever comes up to your ankles.

I would have liked to have seen a more sizable settlement(s), there was just Rivet City and Megaton as far as anything large went. Both I'd put on the same level as the Hub in fallout 1 or the Den in fallout 2. One or two more large towns couldn't have hurt, the other thing I don't necessarily understand but they probably could have explained with a little more plot was that its supposed to be another what, 30 - 40 years after fallout 2, in 2 you have people planting crops (hell you have that in 1), trees are growing again too. Its still a wasteland, but parts of it are a bit more hospitable. They could have used the lingering low quality of the water as an explanation as to why the east coast has been slower to have any sort of recovery.

Its not really that the game is horribly bad, it just so much untapped potential, I think developers underestimate and under deliver for their audiences. I think people would much more enjoy a game with the quest/NPC depth of a game like Fallout 1, 2, FFVI and the like but with the graphics of the newer games. Why do we have to make cuts in the story department all of the sudden?
