There's still always a chance. 2K has publishing rights but the ip and resources from DNF still belongs to the guys from 3DRealms. Some other developer could come along and pick up the project, wrap it up, and pass it back to 2K to sell it.

Well this took forever to come around. Apparently 3D Realms aren't closed and won't be, but the team working on Duke Nukem Forever was let go, meaning that we may not get the same game they were working on, but another Duke Nukem Forever to be released somewhere between now and forever XD
