I think he addressed the international community well enough in his inaugural address that I can have some faith in him.

Honestly, I was scrutinizing everything at the National Mall for how dangerous it would be. I was thinking "are those screens high enough to deflect a grenade", "have they searched everybody at a higher level than the screen for guns", "would it be possible for somebody to have a mortar in Washington, DC?".

And before I realized that the artillery pieces that volleyed at the end of the thing were ceremonial, I thought somebody had seriously fucked up their security duties.

It's also entirely possible that the first child you have will die before its one year old.  But we don't bet on it because you just don't bet on things like that.  It's sick.

Sorry, stuff like that kinda gets under my skin.

On a less gruesome and argumentative note, I'm glad this man is in office.  He's not perfect, but he represents progress in the right direction in a number of ways.

We don't? I was misinformed about what a dead pool is then.

Only if he gives out free copies of Windows 7 to those that bought Vista.

This made me laugh.

THIS JUST IN!

The Obama children spent their first night in the White House watching High School Musical 3 in their presidential home theater room.

Hopefully Obama will win back the goodwill you lost...

Honestly, I don't give a fuck about goodwill, as long as he does the right things. Which is highly improbable, historically speaking.

That just earnt you a -1... The US was quite liked before the Bush administration and when the attacks on the World Trade Center happened the entire world was shocked and felt for the US... How Bush acted turned all that empathy around and made the US one of the, if not the, most hated countries in the world... As much as your "patriotism" would make you like to think you don't need the rest of the world, you actually do, especcially in these times. And it's attitudes like this which will keep the rest of the world hating your country and think you're arrogant ignorant morons...

You misunderstand. I probably should have phrased that better.

I agree with what you said about Bush. He was one of the worst presidents in recent memory, and his actions were despicable. But the reason he was so bad isn't because he made the world hate America, it's because he did bad things.

Also, I don't really even like the concept of national goodwill. I see no reason why the actions of a man that less than half the country voted for should reflect on our entire population.

Sorry if I came across as a dick. Wink

Yet not very probable. In order to be able to carry out the duties of executive branch (in this case enforcing the law) then you kind of need to have studied law. Also, campiagns are expensive and that's a vast understatement.

Plus an atheist has almost zero chance of getting elected.  I remember hearing all sorts of polling done on it and you can't get much lower than atheist.

He's doing pretty good so far, he's opening presidential records up to the public and he's shutting Guantanamo today.

Re: So... - cbre88x - 01-22-2009

We need another president like Garfield.
