I would wager that if we implemented a forced random team selection the instances of skill stacking would drop to almost nothing. In fact, I suggested it some months ago and I can still see no downside to it.
I agree with Budr to get this implemented. As long as it doesn't delist the servers or anything, I think it will be for the better. At any given time, there will not be enough BRBU on to give it substantial traffic, and if there are than the other three, public servers will remain empty because we can't seed them. Password protection is something I loathe, because not only does it create a sense of exclusivity - we can't afford to have that in BRBU - but it also destroys our reputation in the outside world. Re: In response to the state of the servers. - Dave - 07-28-2008 you know who else wanted exclusive rights to a place for a certain place? clue: he had a stupid moustache and hated gypsies. Re: In response to the state of the servers. - Panda - 07-28-2008 If everyone hit random instead of just picking BLU with a wink and a nod, while the same people end up on that team, we'd not have skill stack issues. There need to be a few more people with admin to ban asshats, and a couple of the people WITH admin need to stop killing the server with cheats when it starts to fill up. Re: In response to the state of the servers. - CaffeinePowered - 07-28-2008 Theres been a few hackers, but its been pretty rare, theres been a 100% crit, a few aimbots, and a few speed hacks. You get noticed and banned pretty fast too. I pick red (habbit from when I used to team stack with friends, easier when you already know in which team you are going to). So... yeah red Go blue against me if you want to lose! Re: In response to the state of the servers. - Panda - 07-28-2008 I meant when Tacos turns on cheats and then gives it to only himself and Spore, and then sets the server to a shitty map despite it starting to fill up and then just killing people while invincible for an hour instead of changing to a good map and getting play back to normal. You know, so instead of it filling up the rest of the way all the pubs get pissed off and leave.
On every CTF map, I'll choose red. Not sure why... maybe I'm just used to killing blu's. The new passworded server would get our brbu's off the public servers and into the "elite" server more often than not. Less brbu's in pubs means less exposure to new players, and generally emptier servers. If we don't keep new blood coming into this place, it will eventually die. My two cents. I'm imagining tacos is getting Kor's mad voice about now (if he's not too busy playing WOW).  I wonder if it's still sexy, or if the reverb can shatter men's souls.
