I was a pizza driver, but the pizza place's insurance company made a new rule that said drivers had to have their license for three years. I've had mine two and a half. I obviously could get another job, but they are scarce in my area, and the idea of traveling across the country, starting from scratch has always appealed to me.
I'm in the same boat. No, you don't have to read Catcher to want to do this. My advice: get a good reliable car and some gas money, by hook or by crook. Live out of that. Shelters are a bitch. Read Wikihow. It has a bunch of articles on good homelessness. Also, Steal This Book has some good (now mostly obsolete) tips, but you can still read the wiki.
This is a good idea.
Hell yes it is. Trust me, my mind spends a lot of time there. And don't listen to Dave. Re: Anyone know anything about being homeless? - Dave - 04-30-2009 lol blitz? He lived in an abandoned barn for a while and ended up riding a bicycle across the states over the course of a year or something of the sorts. If you aren't forced into the situation don't go looking for it. It really sounds like you just want to go backpacking like a dirty hippy. Inside, you kinda feel sorry for them because they can't help it, but outside you're laughing because they're just so fucking retarded. If you can stand to be filthy, it might be for you. Me, I'm lost if I don't have a hot shower within 5 minutes of waking up every morning. Honestly, I can't stand filthiness, I'm terrified of bugs, I'm picky about what I eat, I'm skinny, I have no useful skills, and I'm a coward. This is a bad idea. But I still might do it. At the very least, I'm gonna try to save some money up and do it the smart way in a car like Peaches said. Re: Anyone know anything about being homeless? - A. Re: Anyone know anything about being homeless? - cannedpeahes - 04-30-2009 Gotcha some links. You have two options: Pick A, and you might just look like an unfortunate victim of trying economic times. B is a different story. Re: Anyone know anything about being homeless? - cbre88x - 05-01-2009 I'm about to be homeless, housing is kicking me out today and my house isn't ready to be moved in..not to mention the original occupants haven't left. So tomorrow I am officially homeless. Time to go on the street corner and whore myself. |
