[/quote] If it did nothing, then my power supply would be working..and I wouldn't have made this thread in the first place. A large drop hit the circuitboard and hit several components. It's dead. Also, if you have to take extra care with something, I'd consider it sensitive, i.e. basically any computer component. Latex can be used to paint over older oil-based paints as well as directly on unprimed drywall or brick and masonry. Given that latex paints are water based, they popular for their easy-to-clean properties and are generally better for the environment. I used white latex satin..the cheap walmart brand.."Colorplace". Works great on walls..and destroying PSUs. Re: Fuck My Life - rumsfald - 05-07-2009 (05-07-2009, 11:52 AM)cbre88x link Wrote: sigh... I got my new PSU in today..made sure it wasn't DOA or it was the PSU that was malfunctioning and not the motherboard. Checked the new PSU..works great. So for shits and giggles..I tried the old one again. The fucker actually worked. I tried it about ten times for a couple of days..and all of a sudden it worked when I get my new one...sigh. FML. I'll get pictures up soon..and I'll try to get pictures of what the paint did. I'm using the new one right now and I'm keeping the old one as a back-up/PSU for the next rig I build. Re: Fuck My Life - KarthXLR - 05-07-2009 Probably had to let the paint dry. I echo HeK's statement about PSUs not being sensitive electronics, most of the components in there are big for a reason. An active PSU is essentially an error-correction mechanism that actually regulates the temperature to a tolerance tighter than the components used to put it together, so a small variance in one component shouldn't fuck it up. As far as insulating contacts, PC CPUs don't have moving components, so there isn't anything in there you could electrically insulate that would fuck anything else up. It shouldn't even break the transformers or coils because the magnetic permeability of dry paint is pretty negligible compared to air unless its some sort of crazy metallic or magnetic paint. If you turned it on while the paint was wet, though, thats a slightly different story.
