I learned that if I ever think I might have to work a weekend, I should just expect to.

Let's be clear, I'm no Crow. But the 1-week shadow has a nice clooney fullness to it.

I haven't worn facial hair in 14 years. But....

Chicks dig manly beards. They can't help it.

So, I'm embeardening. And nearly every woman at work has to stop herself, look doe-eyed, and compliment it. One this morning came up and touched my face, without asking, as I was talking to the CFO.

The only one who hasn't said she liked it, is the one who's been hitting on me for 10 months. She tried to insult it. I know better.

Chicks dig facial hair. It's a sign of manly potency. They all lust the thrust of a gorilla.

This is what I learned.

How manly is your beard?

On Friday I learned that just because a HMMWV can jump the washout in the road, don't expect an LMTV to not collapse the road further.

And oh yeah, PFCs sitting shotgun don't notice dummy 155 rounds till you open their door and pull them out of the vehicle.

I've learned my sister is still kind of a bitch. I know it's not friday, but still.

I found out yesterday that one of the kids I used to ride the bus with every day, someone who lived nearby and who my family knew, had a horrible accident.

He was teaching his girlfriend how to use the ditch mower and something happened. It took off his leg and she panicked really badly. She managed to get him into the car (they live about 20 minutes out of town) but she was so scared she put the car in the ditch. Someone nearby happened to be there and took them to the hospital, and they're both stable and will be alright. But what really... gets me is that my sister's email to me this morning made it sound like it was all the girlfriend's fault. No one even knows exactly what happened.

"...all the while knowing she caused this to happen". Who says that? It was a horrible and permanently disfiguring accident that might prevent him from his farming for the rest of his life, and all she can say is that? She posts on her main page that her prayers are with them, but all the while she's thinking that kind of thing. I read it and was literally speechless.

Time for a well-placed cunt punt.

I think she's pretty amazing for keeping it together enough to stop the bleeding and get him into the car, nevermind the rest of it. Whatever the cause of accident was, her actions immediately following it saved his life, I'm sure.

That said, the girl's going to feel guilty about it for the rest of her life, no matter the circumstances of the accident. Maybe that's what your sister meant?

I've always wondered, would a poorly placed one hurt more, or less?

Re: Its FRIDAY, what have you learned this week. - Luinbariel - 09-26-2010

Knowing my sister, I doubt that's what she meant. Ah well, in the end I guess what I think of her reaction doesn't matter. I'm just glad that he lived and I hope they can cope together. He was always a really nice kid and when anything like this happens it's terrible.

At least for once I had the sense to keep my mouth shut and not say anything to her directly. THAT would have been bad.

Yup. Probably within about 30 minutes.

Luin,

Unless your sis has a prior history of saying the wrong thing, I wouldn't attribute much to this. Such a catastrophe would leave most people "speechless" or "lost for words." Judge her by her actions - does she try to help him/this couple going forward...or not. That, is the question.

Re: Its FRIDAY, what have you learned this week. - Luinbariel - 09-29-2010

She has the prior history, trust me.

That is one reason we didn't really talk for a few years.

The married attorney chick that's been flirting with me for nearly a year just revealed she's been separated for nearly the same amount of time. She started flirting with me when my ring came off last Oct. She knew I was separated, and she was separated, and said nothing. But flirted. for a year. I'd thought she was wanting to cheat, with an outside chance of being a swinger. But not that she'd separated, why hide that?

*mind blown*

Sometimes the Army asks if you want to take a combat tour.  And then a couple weeks later they "ask" again, and tell you that if it doesn't fill up, you're on a very short list of people they're going to make go.

BRB, going to war (Probably).

To see if you'd bite, knowing she was possibly otherwise entangled? +1 for you in her book for not, most likely. Or she's taking the separation law seriously and isn't wanting to fuck around while still 'married' and give her husband ammo in the divorce case. I don't know how the laws work up there, but I know that can fuck you sideways in Maryland.

I learned that camping outside the DMV for 1 1/2 hours just to be one of the first 50 people in front of a clerk is smart.

If you wait until opening time to arrive, you're already behind. And you can make an appointment online to reduce your time spent in line... earliest appointment available is, oh, 4 weeks from now at my local branch.

I learned nothing.

Re: Its FRIDAY, what have you learned this week. - Luinbariel - 10-09-2010

I learned that my boss is a lying cunt and that she thinks being uber nice to me will trick me into forgetting all this work shit ever happened. I learned that playing that game lets me get away with shit for an undetermined amount of time. I also learned that she's lazy as fuck and that we can get away with doing nothing at all for 3 hours so long as she starts doing nothing first.
