2H+ + 2ClO3- Cl2 + (5/2)O2 + H2O

The charges need to be balanced. Oh well, I still haven't figured it out so I'm going to ask my TA tomorrow.

The original unbalanced redox rxn was the first one I posted. The most recently posted rxn is the fully balanced answer, which I can not get because I am stuck at this one step of adding electrons to the oxidation half rxn.

ans I quote this Yale physics professor: "Many people may not remember the Kennedy assassination but many people remember the time they first saw the incline plane. That was the day they decided not to become physics majors." So true, incline planes + friction = despair
Maybe it also has to do with the fact that I haven't done calculus in over a year.

MMM yes, ochem is definitely my favorite and the easiest chem course I have ever taken. Best labs ever.

I thought my jumping-car glitch in Just Cause 2 was just one car, but turns out its all of them. I can't fucking hit the brakes, or turn for that matter, without spinning out.

Think: the rear suspension is hooked up to hydraulics that won't stop bouncing.

is the answer; 104 electrons on both sides; 4H, 4Cl, 12O on all sides

I think you misunderstood what I meant.
1 ClO3- 1 Cl2 + 3 O2  is the complete (unbalanced) rxn.
2H+ + 2ClO3- Cl2 + (5/2)O2 + H2O  is the correct (balanced) answer not what you had posted earlier, which was 2 ClO3- 1 Cl2 + 3 O2. And 4H+ + 4ClO3- 2Cl2 + 5O2 + 2H2O is just the correct answer multiplied by 2...which is redundant.

But I figured out how to get to the answer so all is well in the world.
