Finally got the first Mass Effect. Download speed is a blazing 2.6 MB/s, peaking around 2.7 MB/s. And all this is without a physical connection to the router.

MIMO rules.
Everything that has a wire in my LAN has a (real) gige card that supports jumbo frames, my WAP has a gige uplink on it and I can transfer files to my laptop from a wired server or PC with the speed limit it hits is set by the laptop's slower HDD, the wireless can go faster than the HDD can write.
