Today I learned that it took some of the Japanese soldiers almost 30 years to realize that WWII was over, and surrender.

[/quote]Even better: the guy said he wouldn't surrender except to a commanding officer, so they found his commanding officer working in a bookstore in Japan and flew him to the Phillipenes. The guy came out of the jungle in full dress uniform with a sword and perfectly maintained rifle, and surrendered to his CO.

Even better is that for 30 years he was taking pot shots at people and blowing up boats. Which begs the question. How much explosive and ammo did they GIVE him?
